Martin Bayer takes Rd4 of Czech offroad nationals

Last weekend the 4th round of Czech Nationals took place on track Dolní Bukovsko and Martin Bayer wrote this report. Club did very good job preparing this track for nationals. They totally rebuild track for this race and it was medium grip with a blue groove and many very fast corners. The Czech championship has 5 races in total I had already taken the overall championship title. We ran two classes, 1/8 nitro and 1/8 electric off-road. In both qualifications my cars were excellent. During practice I made set-up which was very good and I stuck with it until the end of the race. I was the only driver who made 10 laps in qualification in both classes and had the overall TQ in both classes. On Sunday we had finals. I won the electro class, leading the race from start to finish. In the nitro class I didn’t give any chance to the other drivers. I started nitro class from pole position with great pit strategy and perfect run I won with 3 lap gap.

Cavalieri & Drake win at JBRL Nitro Series Rd6

Round six of the JBRL Nitro Series made its way to Chula Vista R/C Club last weekend. The weather and track conditions were amazing with the CVRC club preparing a technical track that held up great all weekend. TLR/Novarossi/Pro-Line driver, Adam Drake headed to round six of the JBRL nitro series as the points leader in 1/8th nitro buggy, 1/8th nitro truck and electric buggy. In the nitro buggy class Cody King TQ’d round one and Drake TQ’d round two. King would be the overall top qualifier followed by Drake and Cavalieri. King and Drake had a rough start and found themselves buried deep in the pack. At one point Drake was over twenty seconds behind leader Cavalieri.  Drake was able to catch Cody at the end of the 25 minute final, but wasn’t able to make a pass.  Cavalieri won by 11 seconds followed by King and Drake only one second apart.

Cseko, Timar & Varsanyi win Rd7 in Hungary

The 7th and penultimate round of the Hungarian Onroad Championships was held in Pecs last weekend. The club cleaned and sugar-watered the track for this event so the grip was there right from the beginning. This time the direction of the track has changed from regular anti-clockwise to clockwise which was a but tricky in the beginning for mechanics during refueling. The layout is fast and flowing with only one harpin corner and the weather was nice all weekend, around 25°C and no winds.

Ben Panic takes Malaysian Southern Series Rd4

With racers all home from FEMCA in Pattaya things settled back in to the Southern Super League round 4 this weekend in Johor Bahru Malaysia. Once again David Aw and Sunny Wong delivered a new layout for the racers. Many spent Saturday settling in to the new track and finding the fast lines and places to pass. The track designers had made this a challenge with plenty of tight sections that really challenged the buggies and drivers. With 120 drivers entered, qualifying would be 3 rounds of 7 minutes with the best run to count. Finals would revert to standard IFMAR Christmas tree with everyone progressing through a semi to the main.

Robert Batlle takes Spanish title with Rd3 win

Last week the 3rd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale Nationals was held at the ATV Racing Club in Valladolid. 91 drivers attended the race with nice sunny weather during the whole weekend except Friday, when a few rain drops appeared, but not enough anyway to disturb the race. During Saturday’s qualifications Robert Batlle was the fastest, followed by Andrés Marcelino and Daniel Bernabé. Batlle had a trouble in his A-Semifinal and had to fight to keep 4th place, finally getting start position 5 for the final. In the main final Dani Vega took the lead for the first laps with a close fight behind for the second place between Ignacio Candel and Andrés Marcelino. Batlle had to wait 29 laps to get the first position and held on to it until the end of the Race. Daniel Vega crashed against a rolled car in the double jump ruining his race. This left Ignacio Candel in 2nd and Ramón Nuño in 3rd. With this victory Robert Batlle secures the 2012 Championship.

Hellquist, Fransson & Wilck take Swedish titles

The Swedish Nationals for 1/10 EP, GP and 1/8 GP cars was held at the beautiful Väst-8 facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden. Over 80 entries from Sweden, Norway and Denmark had made their way to this race. Most racers arrived already on Friday to get some track time before racing started on Saturday morning. Cool and windy conditions on Saturday made track conditions a bit unpredictable, but in the end, some very quick lap times were put in. In 1/10 GP, Mikael Fransson (Serpent/Orcan) was TQ in front of Alexander Hagberg (Xray/Orcan), followed by Norwegian Capricorn driver Adrian Berntsen and the Swedish Serpent/OS driver Per-Ola Hård. In the 1/8 class it was the very fast Niklas Johansson from Stockholm who set the TQ time with his Xray/Orcan combo. He was followed by Mikael Fransson, Marcus Lindner, both racing Serpent cars, and Magnus Bengtsson, running a Mugen, which were all within the top 4 and directly qualified for the main final on Sunday.

Michele Romagnoli wins 2012 Novarossi Trophy

Shepherd sent this short report from Samuele Romagnoli about the international Novarossi Trophy which took place in Fiorano. “We arrived at the track on Friday and although there was rain predicted it was a sunny day. We fired up our Sonic engine and immediately our Velox V8 was fast as the setup was nearly perfect. The only thing to decide was the body to use: the Protoform P909 had a little bite more steering, but the new R18 was a little bit easier to drive. Therefore we did a lot of tests with the bodies and tyres. The Sonic motor was immediately running perfectly at very low temperatures combining a good fuel consumption and a high top speed.

Jason Frost wins Rd7 of BRCA 1/8th series

The seventh round of the 2012 BRCA national championship was hosted by the Halifax circuit in West Yorkshire, the host club for the 2013 European A Championship. The entry was low compared to the previous rounds but this was due to this meeting being rescheduled after the track was flooded earlier in the season. At the top of the Championship is Tim Wood who had a comfortable lead over Andy North, but the threat would come from Branson and Green who can overtake the current leader if they cement podium finishes over the remaining 3 rounds.
