Aigoin takes title as Sartel wins Rd4 in France

Round 4 of the French 1/8th scale Nationals took place at the weekend in Noeux Les Mines in the north of the country. Qualifying would go the way of Kyosho/Novarossi driver Jerome Aigoin with Agama driver Jerome Sartel in 2nd followed by Renaud Savoya and Yannick Aigoin. The top qualifier would also win his semi to take pole position to line up ahead of Jonathan Bacro, Jerome Sartel and JP Sartel. The 45 minute A-main would be won by Agama/Bullitt driver Sartel with an 8 second advantage over Jerome Aigoin in 2nd with Renaud Savoya bringing his RB powered Xray to 3rd spot. The runner up spot in this round would be enough to give Jerome Aigoin the 2012 French National title.

Ty Tessmann is double ROAR National Champion

The 2012 ROAR 1:8 Fuel Nationals have wrapped up today and is one that will be remembered forever in r/c history. The truggy final started with Ty Tessman on the pole after his commanding performance of leading his semi from start to finish, also with the fastest time. TQ in qualifying, Jared Tebo didn’t show his dominant form as he did in the previous days but was still able to start second on the grid in the main.

Morganti & Wang win Byron World Challenge

The 2012 Byron Fuels World Challenge at Leisure Hour Raceway saw 80 entries competing in 3 nitro classes, GT, 1/10 Sedan and 1/8 On-road. After 4 rounds of qualifying, Paolo Morganti TQ’d in the GT class, current US National sedan Champion DJ Apolaro took TQ in the Sedan class while JJ Wang TQ’d the 1/8 On-Road class. In the finals, it was Byron fuel’s team drivers Paolo Morganti and JJ Wang taking home the winner’s trophy. Paolo Morganti driving his Serpent won both GT and 1/ 8 On road while Mugen driver JJ Wang dominated the 1:10 sedan class. Byron Fuels World Challenge is a cash contingency race, over $40,000 in contingency checks paid out in previous Byron Challenges, the biggest payouts in R/C.

Tebo & Maifield ROAR Nats top qualifiers

Saturday at the 2012 ROAR Nationals kicked off with slightly cooler weather out at LCRC in Pennsylvania for the final day of qualifying. Maifield and Tebo swept the first day of qualifying in buggy and truggy respectively. The best 2 of 4 rounds of qualifying points count so the TQ was still up for grabs in each class.

Matt Chambers wins Colorado Nitro Series Rd2

TLR/Orion/JConcepts driver Matt Chambers made the drive with TLR teammate Clayton Easley to the famous DirtWorks R/C track, better known to the locals simply as “Burlington” for round 2 Colorado Nitro Series. A massive 1/8th track with huge jumps, tons of elevation change, and a flowing racing line. Matt took his new Orion CRF .21 powered TLR 8ight 2.0 to the TQ spot in all three rounds and went on to win the 30 minute A- main by a huge margin. Thanks goes out to Bill Parson owner of DirtWorks R/C for putting on a flawless event.  In July the series moves to Denver’s RAT Raceway for round 3.

Tebo & Maifield lead qualifying at ROAR Nats

The first two rounds of qualifying for the 2012 ROAR 1/8th gas offroad National Championships kicked off on Friday at Lost Creek RC in Oakland Mills, Pennsylvania. Due to an East Coast heatwave the weather has been scorching hot and extremely humid. First impressions of the track had a lot of participants in awe. There are lots of elevation changes, huge jumps, downhill whoops section, high-speed banking turn, and a duo of front and back straightaways. The surface grooved up quite a bit but a high amount of dust steals away what traction may appear to be there.

Patrick Nähr wins Rd3 in Southern Germany

Last weekend the 3rd round of the South German Championship took place in Amberg in the East of Bavaria. In total 49 drivers attended this event to score points for the championship. In the 1/10th class Patrick Nähr had a great day with his Sonic powered Velox V10 “twelve”. After he claimed the second place in qualifying he dominated his semi-final finishing 4 laps in front of the rest of the field lining up second on the grid for the main final. After an intense race at the beginning of the final he sneaked away finishing more than one lap in front of Dominic after 30 minutes. Steve Baumgarten completed the podium.

Daan Jacobs wins Dutch 200mm Rd3

The 3rd round of the Dutch nationals 1/10 scale was held in the centre of the Netherlands at the Utrecht club Raco2000 and Daan Jacobs wrote the following report. “The track from Raco2000 is fast and bumpy, so the shocks of the car are really important on this track. You want your car stable and consistent on the bumps and also keep corner speed in your car. During Saturday we saw a lot of drivers driving consistent laps under 16 seconds with the fastest lap times of 15,6 seconds, so it promised to be close for the race on Sunday.
