Jorg van Leuken takes Rd2 in Holland

The 2nd race of the Dutch 2012 season took place on the circuit of Mach One in Helmond last week end. Practice day was rained out, and it even rained lightly on Sunday, race day, but the track was astro turf, so the race was run. Drivers were searching for the right setup and / or tires but it soon became clear that whatever you did, the track was slippery. The qualifications were a real spectacle of pirouettes and slides and JQ-driver Jorg Van Leuken was fastest. In the afternoon the rain stopped and the final was run on a dry track. In the main final, Jorg van Leuken took off from pole and drove fast. He was never really threatened and drove unchallenged to his first win of the season. After his poor start Jeffrey Halsema took the second spot. The third place was a very consistent Paul Geelen.

Franco Machado wins Puerto Rican NOS Rd5

During the past weekend the fifth round of the Puerto Rico Nitro On Road Series (NOS) was run at the Barceloneta RC Track. Andy Báez took TQ with 19 laps in 7:08.333 but the sedan main was to be full of drama. Andy took the lead from the start of the race followed closely by José Martínez, but a mistake in the pits saw Baez fall to four position. During that time Juan Rodríguez took the lead but a flame out took him to fourth. Baez was able to recover even with just one gear to the first spot, but lost both gears in his MTX5, taking out of the race and giving young Capricorn driver Franco Machado the win.

Simon Kurzbuch wins Rd2 in Switzerland

Last weekend saw the Lostallo track host the 2nd Round of the Swiss Championships and Mattia Pesenti sent us this report. The weather forecast wasn’t good but on Friday we could practice on dry conditions and the car was very good and easy to drive with good grip. Also the other Xray drivers were very fast and happy with the new car. Unfortunately on Saturday the rain came and we had to choose if use the ‘rain car’ or the ‘dry car’. We chose the ‘rain car’ and so we had to use it for the whole day.

Rick V takes Rd2 in Dutch Nationals

The 2nd round of the Dutch Nationals was held on Belgian soil at the beautiful track of Model Racing Genk. This is the first time ever that the Dutch competition is running on this track just over the border.  Because this track is also the homebase of some Belgium drivers they would have an advantage. On the Friday many people took the chance to run their first laps on this low grip track with only a very small gripline. The Saturday was wet and cold, and only at the end of the day it became dry and some laps were driven. The Sunday started dry but just before the start of the 1st heat it started to rain and did not stop until the main finals.
