Lucas Westerlund wins at Swedish Off-road Champs Rd1

The opening round of the Swedish 1/8th Off-road Championship was hosted by the Älvsby club this past weekend. Emil Edlund took the overall TQ in pretty challenging weather and track conditions from Hampus Berg in 2nd and Jessica Palsson in 3rd. In the 45-minute A-main event it was Lucas Westerlund (Mugen) who would hold the upper hand from Hampus Berg (HB Racing), who suffered some issues during the first pit stop, but eventually managed to recover to 2nd overall. Agama driver, Jessica Palsson came in 3rd overall after having obtained the 2nd place for some time during the race but got caught by Hampus, finishing five seconds behind.

Xtreme Aerodynamics sign Merlin Depta

Xtreme Aerodynamics have announced the signing of German nitro on-road frontrunner, Merlin Depta to their team. Merlin will be using the Italian company’s successful body shells from now on, decking out his Serpent rides at national and international races.

Martin & Berryman win at Nemo Raceway Race One

The opening race on Nemo Racing’s new Nemo Raceway in Royal Leamington Spa, UK was held this past weekend in Nitro and Electric Off-road classes. The event attracted nearly 60 entries and in Nitro Buggy it was Lee Martin with the overall TQ, tie on points with Neil Cragg as Tommy Hall came in 2rd overall. The E-Buggy class was top qualified by Scott Follington from Sean Berryman in 2nd.

Graham Alsop wins at Deerdale Welcome Back race

The Deerdale RC Offroad club in the UK held their Deerdale’s Welcome Back race last weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class it was HB Racing pilot, Graham Alsop who would excel as the work the TQ and win a lap in front of Edward Callan (Xray). Adam Hall (HB Racing) came in 3rd overall after the 20-minute A-main, another lap down.

Joe Bornhorst doubles at Beans RC Nitro Nights

Beans RC of Sherrodsville, Ohio held their Nitro Nights race on the 4th of July. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno RC’s Joe Bornhorst with the overall win, taking the victory in the 45-minute A-main with a 1-lap margin from Agama’s Tyler Jones in 2nd. Xray’s Adam Johnson came in 3rd overall, another lap down. Over in the single 10-minute A-main event it was again Joe Bornhorst with the overall win as Adam Johnson came in 2nd overall. Tony Meintel (HB Racing) came in 3rd overall to round out the podium.

Kostas Sidiropoulos takes Greek Nitro GT title

The 2020 Greek 1/8th Nitro GT Championship was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens this past weekend. The race attracted a total of 17 entries and was held in hot summer weather conditions. In qualifying Kostas Sidiropoulos (SWorkz) was able to take the pole position in front of Michalis Xristodoulou (Mugen) and Konstatinos Terlepanis (Serpent). In the 45-minute A-final Sidiropoulos took an early lead showing good pace but nitro newcomer Dimitris Ioannidis (Xray) was able to take advantage of his long stints to take the lead for a couple of laps before retiring with a mechanical failure. From that moment on Sidiropoulos established himself in the lead, lapping the field twice to take the win and with it the 2020 Greek Nitro GT title. Starting from 8th on the grid Konstatinos Agrafiotis (Xray) finished on a popular 2nd place with Konstatinos Terlepanis rounding out the podium.

Bruno Coelho teams up with Xtreme Aerodynamics

Xtreme Aerodynamics have announced the addition of multi-time IFMAR World and EFRA European champion Bruno Coelho to their racing team. Bruno will deck out his Xray on-road rides with the Xtreme Aerodynamics body shells from now on.

Will Skidmore sweeps NWN Summer Series Rd1

Round 1 of the NWN Summer Series was held this past weekend. Will Skidmore was pretty much in control of things in the Nitro Buggy class as winning four of the five qualifying rounds secured him the pole position for the 22-minute main final. The A-main then also went well for will who would lead from start to finish to take the win from Joni Skidmore in 2nd, a lap behind. Jack Hirst came in 3rd overall, finishing on the same lap as Joni.
