Last weekend the 1st Pit Lane Cup took place in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. KM racing driver Andy Báez took the pole position for the race, while in second position was Fernando Méndez also with a HK-1. In the final the order of the front pairing remained unchanged as Andy took the win by less than a lap from Fernando, with Kyosho driver Anger Santiago in 3rd.

Last weekend was the fourth round of the Belgian championship for 1/8 Gas & 1/8 Brushless. The weather was unstable and at the end of the expert final they had a few showers. The track of the MBRC is fast with great grip and is very tricky after a 8 hours endurance held a few weeks ago. HongNor team driver Robert Raphael managed to win both expert and brushless classes with his X2-CR and NEXX8-E.
Austrians Number one 1:8 Onroad racer Michael Klausner jun. won the 6th and final round last weekend at LAMAC track in Carinthia. The “Audi Factory” driver starting for PSV Salzburg club and using Mugen/Novarossi/Protoform combination has 4 wins and a second place in his final score. This was not the championship win for the 27 years old having won the Austrian national title for the the last 3 years.

Last weekend saw the final round of the Spanish gas on road nationals at the Pinseque track in Zaragoza. The race was all about local driver Victor Gonzalez, having found a good setup in Friday’s practice session, he went on to TQ and set the fastest lap of the weekend and produced a new track record. In the final he would go on to win with his OS powered Kyosho Evolva by 1 lap over Iñaki Pahisa (Xray) in 2nd with Carlos Preacho (Shepherd) in 3rd. The Victory was enough to give Victor Gonzalez the 2011 National title ahead of Oscar Cabezas (2nd) and Nacho Lopez (3rd)

The Noux Les Mines GP, located in the city of Noux Les Mines some 50 miles south of Calais, France is one of the up and coming events in Europe featuring the fast drivers from France and many drivers from neighboring U.K. Making the drive and ferry ride for Team Associated was Neil Cragg and his freshly built RC8.2 having just completed it the Thursday before the event. Cragg set the fastest time in all three rounds of qualifying and a new lap record however the weather changed for the worse and the finals were rained out causing the organizers to use qualifying order as the final positions. With his dominant qualifying performance, Cragg was awarded the victory in front of new Xray signing Renaud Savoya in 2nd and Elliot Boots, running a Kyosho, in 3rd.

This past weekend saw the Nitrohouse Open take place at Revelation Raceway attracting 100 entries and consisting of two qualifiers and mains. TLR / Novarossi factory pilot Adam Drake set the pace in both rounds of buggy and truck by being the only driver to turn 10 laps. In the buggy final Drake was followed closely by Jeremy Kortz and Drew Moller in the opening laps, but Drake ran solid the entire 30 minutes and won the final by more than one lap. In the truck final Drake and Moller had a great race until Drake ran out of fuel. This gave Moller a huge lead and he cruised to victory. Drake came back to finish second and Chris Nunez was third.
Team C Racing have been in contact to promote their HobbyPro Open event that takes place from the 5th to 6th of November at the TRC Track in Hong Kong. This gas event is open to 1/8th on road, 1/10th 200mm and 1/10th 220mm and will once again attract the Shepherd factory team with confirmed entries from Patrick Schaefer, Ronald Volker, Simon Kurzbuch and Jilles Groskamp. This past weekend TLR driver Anthony Mazzara attended the 11th Annual Race against Cancer at McCulloughs Raceway in Sarver, PA. There were over 150 entries that included racers across six different states. Anthony TQ’d and Won the 1/8 Electric Buggy class with his TLR 8ight-E 2.0 while qualifying second in both 1/8th Nitro buggy and truggy. After the 30 minute A-mains in the nitro classes Anthony was able to pull off the win in both 1/8th Nitro buggy and truggy with his TLR 8ight 2.0 and 8ight-T 2.0 respectively. This gave Anthony the podium sweep in all three 1/8th classes. This was the 11th year of the event and their goal was to raise at least $10,000 dollars donating all proceeds to the American Cancer Society. Something that makes this more special is each year Anthony Mazzara raffles off his TLR 8ight 2.0 that was raced during the event and donates the proceeds to the event. Anthony raffled off his TLR 8ight 2.0 to the winner of the raffle Mike Lloyd (seen in the photo holding his new TLR 8ight 2.0) adding an additional $400 to the $11,000 dollars for the weekends race.
