Dutch 1/8 scale nationals Rd5

Last weekend it was only a week ago when we came from the European Championship in Luxembourg but this weekend it was time for the 5th Dutch National at the beautiful track in Apeldoorn. After three rounds of qualifying Rick Vrielijnck secured himself the pole position chased by Steven Cuypers and John Ermen only 0.3 and 0.6 seconds behind on their best 7 minutes run.

2nd Annual Tri-State Shootout

The 2nd Annual Tri-State Shootout was held this weekend in New York at Floyd Bennett Raceway in Brooklyn. The track has been improved all year by Ralph Fortunato and friends. Fresh paint, news boards, improved layout and driver’s stand give all New York city area RC drivers a great place to race. First off was touring. Starting from pole position was Jamie Corrado but the race started with a lot of action and as a result three to four different drivers where fighting for the lead. Local hot shot and bump-up man Diatta Collimore was leading at the 12 minute mark when it started to rain. The race was going to be continued and run again later but more rain forced the results to be called using the qualifying order.

We have uploaded the full 45 minute A-main video (above) from yesterday’s finals day of the European 1/8th scale offroad Championships in Sand, Germany. Batlle fuels his way to European title

Batlle fuels his way to European title

The pre-event favourite to win this year’s 1:8 Offroad European Championships, many onlookers were not convinced that the Warm-up race winner could pull off victory following a below par performance in qualifying but when it counted most Robert Batlle was there to claim his second European title. Moving to Mugen for the 2011 season after the departure of Renaud Savoya, Batlle’s victory marks the fourth consecutive Euros title for Japanese manufacturer.

Top Qualifier Aigoin on pole for final

Top Qualifier Aigoin on pole for final

Jérôme Aigoin is safely through to the final after controlling the first of the Semi Finals from start to finish at the 1:8 Offroad European Champions. The Top Qualifier headed a Kyosho 1-2 in the 20-minute encounter taking the win by 5.4 seconds over Swedish teenager David Ronnefalk and will start on pole for the main event in Sand-am-Main, Germany.

Aigoin is Top Qualifier as Guske tops Q5

For the second year in a row the honour of being Top Qualifier at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships has gone to an Aigoin with Jérôme pulling off the feat achieved by his twin brother Yannick in Portugal last year.  Only TLR’s Darren Bloomfield and Mugen’s Simon Willetts could deny Aigoin from being Top Qualifier needing to top the fifth & final round of qualifying to do so but it was the surprise of these championship Marcel Guske who took Q5.

Bloomfield TQ’s penultimate qualifier

Bloomfield TQ's penultimate qualifier

Team Losi Racing’s Darren Bloomfield has TQ’d the penultimate round of qualifying at the EFRA 1:8 Offroad Championship setting a new overall fastest time for the Sand-am-Main track.  In the last group to run their fourth qualifier, the Warm-up race runner-up denied Mugen a 1-2-3 result by running a 10/5:01.309 pace ahead of Daniel Reckward, Mascel Guske and Q1 pace setter Simon Willetts.

Dulac & Fares win Brazilian 200mm nationals Rd2

Held in Rio de Janeiro, the second round of the Brazilian 1/10 Nitro 200mm nationals attracted over 40 pilots, separated into the two categories Light, for beginners, and Pro for the experts. The four day competition promised intense action on the track with Eduardo Dulac dominating the Pro class from practice to final, taking a straight win some four laps ahead of Leandro Campos and Pedro Piau who are now tie on points leaving the championship open for the last round that will take place in Sao Paulo, in the city of Santo André.
