HPI Baja 5SC truck

Jump into the thrill of Short Course racing with the Baja 5SC truck from HPI. The Baja 5SC takes the HPI Baja line-up to the next level with a new SC-1 body that gives the Baja 5SC authentic Short Course looks. Adding to the durability and realistic looks is a new skid-plate front bumper and a large rear bumper with real rubber mud flaps. Power comes from a massive 26cc engine that propels the Baja 5SC to speeds in excess of 40mph and it runs for more than 45 minutes on a single tank of regular unleaded pump gasoline. For extra traction on any dirt surface, HB Rodeoo tires are now standard equipment, mounted on new TR-10 bead-lock truck wheels. Durability has been increased with Super Heavy Duty 9mm drive shafts, updated rear hub carriers and HD front hex hubs. A 2.4GHz radio system is standard equipment for precise control and long distance reception without the hassles of frequency crystals. It’s all ready-to-run right out of the box, pre-assembled by their expert crew so you can hit the dirt quickly.

After 3 rounds of qualifying Velox V8 pilot Nak-suong Choi was the top qualifier. At the start of the 45 min final Nak-suong Choi defended his first position and tried to increase the gap on the rest of the field. Dani Choi wins Korean Nationals

The KMRCA Korean off road Nationals took place last weekend, with over 70 drivers in attendance.  The host track ‘Banwol circuit’ challenged the nation’s top drivers with a twisty layout with a very bumpy surface which gave smooth efficient drivers a huge advantage over the 5 qualifying runs which each lasted 10 minutes. Sweep Racing/Agama racer Dani Choi would line up on pole position having won the semi-final over TQ Chang-soo Si. In the Main Race Choi never looked back, winning the title by a full lap over 2nd place Dong-woo Nam and 3rd place former national champion Sun-young Hwang.

Simon Willetts joins Competition Heat

Simon Willetts joins Competition Heat

GB Modelsport has announced that Simon Willetts will be one of its leading drivers using the new Competition Heat 12V engine heater in 2011. Simon used the engine heater for the first time at the CML Winter Series meeting at Frankley Model Car Club, taking TQ by round 2, and then going on to win the A Final with his Orion powered Kyosho. On a bone chilling day, where the ambient temperature struggled to reach 6°C, Simon used the heater to good effect. “The car started first time, every time, all through the day and the engine was pretty much good to go as soon as it fired up” commented Simon.

Walter Diaz wins ROAR Region 12 Championships

Walter Diaz wins ROAR Region 12 Championships

Last weekend saw the ROAR Nitro Sedan Region 12 Championship hosted by the Greater L.A. RC in the Artesia Transit Center. A very popular race, there were drivers from Las Vegas and Northern California in attendance. The track was on excellent conditions and the weather couldn’t be better in Southern California. The qualifiers on Saturday saw Kyosho Driver Walter Diaz set the overnight TQ, having some run time issues with 16 laps in 4:56, but in the final qualifier on Sunday it was a very close ending with Kyosho drivers Palazzola and Fisher having the exact same time and Diaz with a good pace, but once again was unable to finish due to run time issues. So the top 3 was Michael Palazzola who took the TQ honors, followed by Scott Fisher and Walter Diaz. The main was really close between these 3 drivers, Diaz took the lead in the first few laps and was followed closely by Palazzola, with Fisher running into some small problems that left him behind. Due to different pit strategies the lead of the race changed several times between Diaz and Palazzola, and it was with less than 1 minute to the end thay they were racing for the win. Unfortunately Palazzola had some problems when he tried to make a pass on a back marker that caused the end of his race with few laps to go. Walter Diaz could then cruise the last few laps to take the Victory ahead of Mugen driver Robbie Collins and Michael Palazzola in third to complete the podium.

Thanks to Walter Diaz for the report.
