Peter Harder wins Rd3 of Hansa Cup

Peter Harder wins Rd3 of Hansa Cup

The Hansa Cup is made up of three 1/8 offroad buggy and truggy races during the season and earlier in the year Furulund in Sweden and Schietmeister in Germany hosted the first two rounds. Last weekend the SOS club, south of Copenhagen, hosted the final round. Drivers from Sweden, Germany and Denmark arrived Friday to a wet SOS track but the club put a lot of effort into draining and making sure the rain could not prevent a great race. TQ in buggy went to the young and very talented Kyosho driver Martin S. Hnansen, but unfortunately Martin had to retire from the semi final with a broken servo. Pole for the final went to Peter Harder who also made the fastest laptime of the weekend, doing a 37.000 second lap. For the final the track had some very bumpy sections and a clean 45 minutes run would not be a easy job. The grip was very high and the right tire choice and shock setup for a bumpy track, but without traction roll, was key. The final had 5 Danes, 4 Swedes and 1 German. Peter with his Novarossi powered Xray took the lead and would hold on to this throughout the final, but not far behind was Swedish Xray driver Simon Boklund and Mugen driver Mikael Palsson. In the end Peter took the victory, while the overall 2010 Hansa Cup title went to the Swede, Mikael Palsson.

Agrafiotis wins buggy at Cyprus International

Agrafiotis wins buggy at Cyprus International

Following Saturday’s truggy event at the Cyprus International, the buggies had their turn on track on Sunday with around 50 drivers taking part at the MaxxTraxx track in the Larnaca region of the island. The heat was exhausting and the sun never let up. After 4 qualifying rounds it was Costas Agrafiotis that had pole position drving a Mugen, while truggy winner Zurfluh from Switzerland with a Losi made a big effort in the last round to grab second place with Azulay from Israel in third, just 2 seconds away, also with a Mugen. The start of the A-main saw the Swiss driver managed to get past to second place and after the first 3 pit stops passed first place as Agrafiotis didn’t have long run times and was refuelling earlier. Agrafiotis managed to regain the lead later and pulled a gap of about 6 seconds. Some 10 minutes before the end Zurfluh first hit some traffic and then his motor came loose. He managed to repair it but lost any chance of victory or even a podium placing. Agrafiotis took the win ahead of Azulay in 2nd and Iaponas in 3rd.

Third place was a local fight with class TQ Taliadoros faster but with made some mistakes, Lemesianos was also fast but had bad luck and so with steady driving the experienced Kofteros finally took the last podium spot.

Mark Green wins Rd7 of British 200mm Nationals

Mark Green wins Rd7 of British 200mm Nationals

Kyle Branson sent us this report on the 7th round of the BRCA 1/10th scale national series that was held last weekend at Adur, just on the coast of Brighton under mostly dry conditions. On Saturday the traction was quite low at the start but got a little better during the day. My car wasnt too bad but there was room for improvement. Johnathan Dobney was the fastest at the end of the day with a 15.25 second lap with myself and Mark Green following closely. On Sunday the weather was to change, it was raining very lightly for a while and so the first two rounds were wet or damp which was never going to produce the TQ time as for sure it would dry. In the third round it was Mark who took TQ ahead of Johnathan in second and John Zottl in third. I made a mistake and pulled the wishbone out. In the fourth round It was John Zottl who took TQ ahead of Matthew Cook and Joe Kerry in second. After a couple of minutes the pin fell out of my wishbone ending my last run but I still managed to get 9th from a dampish run and a place in the A-main. In the final Mark was leading, with John Zottl in second and myself following closely in third. John and I had a coming together causing trouble for both of us. Neal King was not too far behind and drove a good race to come second behind Mark with Adam Catchpole taking third. The last race of the season will be at Colchester in a few weeks.

Thanks to Kyle Branson for the report.
