The 2009 NitroCross World Finals was once again held at ‘The Nitro Pit’ in Wittman, Arizona. There would be two heats of 15 drivers for the Invitational Classes. The first heat race consisted of 20 laps and the top 4 drivers in each heat would transfer directly to the A-Main. The Semi’s would be run later in the day for those drivers that didnt transfer and would also be a 20 lap race. The top 3 drivers in each heat would then transfer to the A-Main. At the end of the day was the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) where both heats of the remaining drivers would be put together for a 15 lap race. The Invitational Truggy Main Event would be run first. At the start of the tone, Ryan Cavalieri got a great start and was up to 3rd by the end of the first lap. Cavalieri then began to put in fast lap after lap to catch up to the leaders. At the halfway point in the race, RC was now leading and beginning to put some distance on the rest of the field. Cavalieri crossed the finish line first to take home his first win of the weekend and $5,000.00. The last race of the day was the Invitational Buggy Main Event. Jared Tebo qualified 1st overall with his Team Orion powered Kyosho MP9. After the first lap was complete, it was once again Cavalieri getting a great start and in 2nd place just behind the leader. Cavalieri then took over the lead and a few laps later and drove away from the field. With a few laps to go in the race, RC then put it on cruise control to take the win and another $5,000.00.

These unusual long and exhausting racing times have been highly accepted by the drivers and a new experience for most of them. The NRW Challenge will be continued in 2010 with three to five races administered through the whole season.
