Yannick Aigoin tops first timed practice

First timed practice Top 10 at Euros

Yannick Aigoin is the pace setter here in Austria after the first full round of timed practice followed by another former European Champion Miguel Matias.  Aigoin described the run as OK but he would like more steering on his Losi and will try a lighter oil in his front diff for the final timed practice.  Portuguese ace Matias, who briefly topped the time sheets having knocked Jerome Aigoin from the No.1 spot, said he was pleased with his Ninja powered GS Racing CLX which is a completely different car to that which he used at the Warm Up.

Sun shines at Euros in Austria

The top off road drivers from across Europe are arriving to a sunny track here in Austria for the opening day of action at the 2009 EFRA 1:8 Off Road European Championships, but predictions are that things are going to get muddy for the rest of the week. Race organisers had a busy morning pumping the heavy overnight rain off the huge covers that have been in place for the last few days to protect the dirt track from what is turning out to be one of the Austria’s wettest Summers. Unfortunately the rain is set to return tonight and continue for much of the week.

Rick V wins Dutch 1/8th NK Rd4

The 4th round of the Dutch championship was held on the very small and tricky circuit of MBC de Sluis in Gouda. The day started with nice weather, and although the forecast did predict rain it stayed dry the whole day. In the NK it was surprising to see Joey Sorber taking the pole folowed by John Ermen, Rick V and Ilia v. Gastel. In the main final it was John who was kicked out after 2 corners from the start trying to overtake Joey Sorber. Joey was strong in the lead but had to retire after 20 minutes. Rick V, driving the SM engine, took the lead after 7 laps and despite a tyre change at 15 minutes that allowed John Ermen into the lead, he would go on to take the win. In 2nd place it was John Ermen with a damaged car due some accidents on the track, while 3rd spot went to Rik Veenma who was racing a steady race.
