Bruno Coelho joins Xtreme Aerodynamics

Xtreme Aerodynamics have announced the signing of multi-time IFMAR World Champion, Bruno Coelho to their team. The Xray factory driver will use Xtreme Aerodynamic’s body shells to deck out all of his on-road rides from now on and he has the following to say about the deal:

I’m really happy to announce that I decided to join Xtreme Aerodynamics! I’ve been following the work of Xtreme in on-road nitro classes and how they totally dominate that market and since they joined electric TC their results have been impressive. The new Xtreme Twister is for sure the body of the moment and I can’t wait to start this project. Finally I want to say thank you to Cristian Boni for the great opportunity and see you all in the next race!

Lewis Jones wins at HNMC Winter Series Rd6

The 6th round of the HNMC Winter Series was held at the Herts Nitro Model Club in the UK last weekend, attracting nearly 75 entries. The mild January weather made for good racing conditions and the qualifying went to Less Reeder in Truggy, Richard Miller in E-Buggy and Callum Niblett in Nitro Buggy. The 20-minute Nitro Buggy A-main event was won by Team Associated’s Lewis Jones some two seconds in front of Xray’s Callum Niblett while HB Racing’s Simon Reeves came in 3rd, already a lap down.

Ielasi Tuned sign Robert Pietsch

Ielasi Tuned from Italy have announced the signing of former IFMAR 1/8th World Champion, Robert Pietsch to their factory team. Robert will use the Novarossi-based engines to power his Mugen ride during his 2020 1/8th scale campaign and he has the following to say about the deal:

First of all I want to thank O.S. Speed and in particular Mr. Shimazaki for the support of the past two years. In the near future I will focus more on the Mugen Seiki 1/10 touring electric model car project, so with the Nitro I will not be able to race with the 1/10 this season, but only in the 1/8 On-Road category and I am sure that together with Daniele, with all his passion and experience as a mechanic on the track, we will do our best to obtain good results.

Aaron Stringer wins at 2020 Vietnam Challenge

The 2020 Vietnam Challenge was hosted by the Long An track in Can Giuoc, Vietnam this past weekend. The event attracted over 120 entries including some international top stars such as Atsushi Hara. The 1/8th Nitro Buggy class was top qualified by HB Racing’s Atsushi Hara from Serpent’s Aaron Stringer and the latter would take the overall win in the 20-minute A-main event that was cut short due to the threat of heavy rain. HB Racing pilot Zac Ryan came in 2nd, a lap down while Takashiro Wataru (SWorkz) completed the top 3 result, some 0.7 seconds behind Zac.

Brandon Rose sweeps 2020 January Jam

Flowood Indoor R/C Park of Flowood, Mississippi held the 2020 January Jam this past weekend with nearly 190 entries for the several nitro and electric off-road classes. In the Expert Nitro Buggy class it was Agama pilot Brandon Rose with the overall TQ and he also came out on top in the 30-minute A-main event, leaving behind Kody Watson (JQ Racing) in 2nd, two laps behind. Cameron Breaux (HB Racing) would round out the top 3 result anther two laps down. In the 1/8th E-Buggy class it was again Brandon with the overall win after coming out on top in A1 and A2 while A2 winner, Cameron Breaux took the runner-up spot.

John Ermen wins at Indoor 2020 Saint Brieuc

The Saint Brieuc Mini Bolides club hosted the Indoor 2020 Saint Brieuc race this past weekend. The event was held in 1/8th and 1/10th nitro on-road as well as an 1/8th electric classes and in 1/8th IC Track it was John Ermen (ARC) with the overall TQ some 0.9 seconds in front of Richard Volta (Mugen). The 30-minute saw John opening a gap from the get go and by the second fuel stop, he already was in the lead by about half a lap. However shortly after the second stop John faced some mechanical issues which reduced his lead and after two unplanned stops he lost more than one lap on the lead car. In the second half of the race Ermen was able to up his pace again and to un-lap himself, chasing down the leader. Ultimately John was able to regain the lead with Richard Volta having to settle for 2nd overall, a lap behind. Rick Vrielijnck (Infinity) came in 3rd, another lap down.

Vincent K. wins at 1/8th GT GQ Cup

The TRC track in Hong Kong played host to the 1/8th scale GT GQ Cup this past weekend. When the dust had settled it was the Hong Nor trio of Vincent K., Ka Wah and Cheung Kwok Wai who took the top 3 honours after the 40-minute A-main final.
