Riccardo Rabitti takes Italian Nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the Italian 1/8th scale buggy Nationals has taken place this weekend at the Blue Rabbits track in Empoli. Qualifying for Sunday’s race saw Losi racer Riccardo Rabitti take the pole position ahead of round 1 winner, Crono racer Davide Tortorici in 2nd and Fabio Boero, driving a Mugen in 3rd. Sunday’s F1 class final saw little change at the front with Rabitti taking the win from Boero in 2nd, who managed to get passed Tortorici who ended the race in 3rd. In the F2 category it was a win for Mugen driver Eugenio Berti, while Alessandro Stocco took the runner up spot for Losi and Helmuth Aufderklamm rounding out the top 3, again for Mugen.

Jerome Renaux wins Belgian Nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the Belgian Nationals took place last weekend in Luxembourg on the same weekend as the 1/8th scale Nationals we covered previously. Qualifying for the T1 class saw Xray racer Jerome Renaux take the pole position spot from his team mates Steve Lanbrechts in 2nd and Jonathan Sanza in 3rd, while in the T2 class it was again an Xray on pole with Donato Vazza taking 1st ahead of Stephane Hubin, while Jonathan Desmet rounded out the top 3. The T1 final saw pole man Renaux pull out an advantage and despite some rain half way into the final, he left it till the last 5 minutes to change to wet tires. He was able to maintain his advantage and take the win from Serpent racer Manuel Henriet in 2nd and Xray driver Michel Tomagra 3rd. In the T2 class, there was a race long battle between Hubin and round 1 winner Maxim Claes, but some clutch problems for Maxim saw the win go to the Xray driver with Claes taking the runner up spot and Olivier Riffon in 3rd.

Zac Ryan joins Hong Nor

Hong Nor is proud to announce the signing of Zac Ryan to the Hong Nor Racing Team in Australia. Zac will partner Martin Wolhuter and Justin Milan at the Queensland Championships next month were he will be driving the new X1X Team buggy with the popular 16mm shocks. Zac has done very well in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa where he was runner up at the recent South African Championships.

Hickersen wins RC Pro East Series Rd2

We received a report from Gene Hickersen on round 2 of the RC Pro East Series that was held at Sumter, South Carolina last weekend. There was a light turnout of 110 entries due to several other big races the same weekend on the East coast, but the track was challenging as the best from the East battled for the Division Championship. It was perfect weather with 85′ F temps. The track was watered before each round, but got very dusty and bumpy as the weekend went on.

Garrigou wins French Classic Nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the French Classic Flat pan chassis National Championships took place in Angouleme last weekend under sunny skies. Following the victory of Gilles Garrigou 1 month previously with the DXF Primo chassis, the RB powered driver was on the pace once more. Qualifying 4th behind Romain Delaunay who was on pole for Motonica, he was able to overtake the challengers in front of him to take the win ahead of Didier Frelat racing the BRX Red Ball, while 3rd position went to current French Champion Bruno Petiot, also driving a DXF Primo.

Juan Pablo Golobic wins in Argentina

Another National Championship round held last weekend, this time part of the Argentinian 1/10 touring car series run at the ‘Hernan Matticoli’ track in Buenos Aires. With 40 racers in attendance they were given practice on the Friday, with qualifying beginning already on Saturday which was headed by Kyosho driver Agustin Cutini. Sunday saw the 45 minute main final run under good weather conditions and despite the fastest lap of the final going to Sebastian Recio, it was National Champion Juan Pablo Golobic, driving a Sirio powered Kyosho that took the win from pole man Agustin Cutini in 2nd, while the 3rd spot belonged to Mugen driver Adrian Castro.

The 2nd round of the 1/10th scale 200mm rubber Nationals took place at the Halifax track last weekend and we received the following report from Steve Lander. With the weather looking superb and the track having been prepared brilliantly by the host club, after its recent flooding and fire, it certainly looked like this meeting was going to be fast paced.

Coelho wins 1/8th Portuguese Nats Rd3

Another race on the Monsanto track in Lisbon, this time it was the 3rd round of the 1/8th scale National Championships. Sunday’s qualifying begun under wet conditions and while some drivers waited for the conditions to improve, top Mugen racer Bruno Coelho took the opportunity to run in some new Sirio motors for the 1/8th scale Europeans that will take place in Valencia in July. In Portugal the top 14 drivers in qualifying go into the semi final and are joined by 3 drivers from each of the quarter finals, who ever is quickest in the semi’s takes the pole position for the main final and this was Coelho, despite missing the start of the race. The final saw the pole man go straight into the lead where he could stretch out a 3 lap advantage to win over guest Brazilian driver Eduardo Dulac in 2nd, with João Malveiro 3rd.
