Chaussard wins 1/10 French Nats Rd3

Last weekend saw the third round of the French 1/10th scale Nationals run at the 330m long AMCO track in Brest, in the very North West tip of France. Qualifying for the National class saw Kyosho racer Romain Jaureguy claim the pole position from Maxime Favrelle in 2nd and Frédéric Bourillon in 3rd, while in the Elite class it was round 2 winner Arnaud Chaussard on the top spot, putting his NT1 in front of team mates Thomas Eytard and Basile Concialdi. The National final saw a good start for the pole man Jaureguy but he dropped back early on and this left Maxime Favrelle in the lead for the majority of the race until his tyres went away near the very end and he was passed by eventual winner Frédéric Bourillon, leavin Favrelle in 2nd at the flag and Alexandre Basset in 3rd. In the Elite final, the race was dominated by Chaussard, who got into the lead and stayed there for the entire race while behind, the Serpent driver Michaël Derderian got passed Mickael Pontal who had a servo failure, and took the runner spot in the race 2 laps ahead of Mathieu Wullyamoz in 3rd.

A. Siegfried wins French 1/8 Nats Rd3

The third round of the French 1/8th scale on road Nationals was run last weekend at the Circuit Carole in Aulnay, just outside the city of Paris. In Saturday’s qualifying for the Elite class it was round 2 winner Richard Volta that was top qualifier, running on his favourite track he placed ahead of Adrien Siegfried in 2nd, Romain Picard in 3rd and Nicolas Guillet in 4th. The National class qualifying was headed up by Philippe Cima, just in front of Romain Baehrel in 2nd, while Arnaud Mathieu and Gaeten Fraioli rounded out the top 4. Following the Semi Finals the National class main final was run and despite a stop and go that dropped him down the order, Mugen racer Romain Baehrel could work his way to the front to take the win ahead of Serpent driver Mickaël Tequi in 2nd and another Mugen, belonging to Jérome Berthelot, in 3rd. In the Elite final it was pole man Volta that jumped into the lead early but before his first stop he ran out of fuel which cost him a lap, and which also allowed Siegfried make a break at the head of the pack. Volta did work his way into 2nd position but once more ran out of fuel and his luck continued to elude him as while in 2nd, in the final minutes of the race, he broke a wheel which put him out of the race. Kyosho racer Siegfried took the flag with a commanding 4 lap lead over Kyosho racer Jérôme Papaconstantinos in 2nd, while Serpent driver Jérémy Cardot took the final step on the podium in 3rd.

Adam Drake dominates SoCal SS Rd2

We received a brief update from last weekends SoCal Saturday Series that was held at the Hemet Race Park track. Team Losi racer, and winner of round 1, Adam Drake took the TQ in the Pro Buggy class and went on to win ahead of Losi team mate Matt Castellano in 2nd and Kyosho’s Cody King in 3rd. The Drake also took the TQ and win in the Pro Truck class, giving him a perfect score so far in this years series.

Copa de las Américas – Announcement

Copa de las Américas - Announcement

FAMAR and AAPARTT, the Argentinian National RC Federation, has selected AARBA (Asociación de Automodelismo Radiocontrolado de Buenos Aires) to run the first Americas Championships. This event will take place at the ‘Hernan Matticoli’ circuit on November 6th to 9th 2008 and is open to 1/8 and 1/10 on road categories. The organisers are looking forward to have the attendance of racers in both categories and from different countries and claim that this event will be a similar international experience like last years 1/8th scale World Championships, which also took place in Argentina.

Manuel Singer wins Austrian Nats Rd1

The first round of the Austrian Nationals were run at the 300m long Kirchberg track, under dry and sunny conditions. Qualification saw the pole position go to Serpent racer Gerhard Kandelhart, with Xray driver Manuel Singer in 2nd and Stefan Mayerhofer in 3rd. At the start of the final, Pittner, Tomaschko and Kandelhart were able to quickly pull ahead of the main pack, while due to a driving mistake, Singer had an off and dropped back down the field. Back on the track and the Xray driver began to to catch those ahead and was able to take the lead and the win, finishing ahead of team mate Martin Pittner in 2nd and Daniel Tomaschko in 3rd.

Renaud Savoya wins Greece EFRA GP

The EFRA GP in Greece for 1/8th scale buggies was held this weekend on the same track that will host this Summer’s European Championships. All the top European names were present, as well as current World Champion Mark Pavidis from the USA, who made the trip over to compete at the event. Qualifying saw the TQ go to Losi racer Yannick Aigoin, ahead of Mugen driver Renaud Savoya in 2nd and Serpent racer Joern Neumann in 3rd. After the Semi finals, it was Savoya that lined up on pole position ahead of Mugen team mate Daniel Vega in 2nd and that order stayed unchanged for the entire race with the real battle on for 3rd, which was finally taken by Kyosho driver Jerome Aigoin who managed to get passed his brother Yannick in the final minutes.

Daniel Tomaschko joins Merlin Fuel

Spanish company, Merlin Fuel, have announced that top Austrian racer Daniel Tomaschko has joined their team. Winner of the recent European 1/8th ‘B’ Championships warm-up race in Kirchberg, the Serpent driver will use the company’s fuel and other products for the rest of the year.

Buenos Aires Metropolitan 1/10 Champs

Buenos Aires Metropolitan 1/10th Champs

The latest round of the 1/10th scale Buenos Aires Metropolitan Championship took place at Hernan Matticoli track last Sunday, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sebastián Recio took the pole position followed by his Kyosho team mates Juan Pablo Golobic in 2nd place and Hernán Lebenbaun in 3rd place. The race followed the same pattern as qualifying and in the end the win went to Recio, while Golobic took 2nd with 3rd place going to Hernán Lebenbaun.
