Darren Bloomfield wins UK RallyX Rd5

The 5th round of the BRCA 1/8th scale buggy Nationals was held last weekend at the Frankley track, once again under wet conditions. In qualifying it was truggy pro round 3 winner, and HoBao runner, Graham Alsop that took the TQ spot in front of Hong Nor racer Simon Willetts in 2nd while David Crompton driving another HoBao ended his qualifying in 3rd. At the start of the main final Graham Alsop and Simon Willets got away from the chasing group of Jamie Booth, John Hazelwood and round 4 winner Neil Cragg. After an unfortunate stop and go penalty for Simon Willets which took him out of the fight for the lead, Neil Cragg and Bloomfield were up front racing for the win. By the last fuel stop Darren had a 10 second lead from Neil who was pushing hard, but he couldnt catch him and thats how it ended, the battle for third was hard fought between Alsop and Booth both pushing like crazy but Graham held on to round out the top 3.

Taylor James joins Werks

Taylor James joins Werks

According to our partners Neo Buggy, current ROAR National truggy champion Taylor James had a busy week prior to winning last weekends Nationals. Having only recieved his new Jammin truggy just prior to the event, he also made the switch from previous fuel suppliers O’Donnell to new sponsor Werks fuel. This didnt seem to effect him and he went on to win the race and National title with a brand new car and fuel supplier.

Mike Wiseman takes Rd3 of SA Nats

South African Championships round 3

Serpent have a report online from the 3rd round of the South African 1/8th and 1/10th scale Nationals held at the very large Durban track recently. In qualifying it was Mike Wiseman all the way, taking the TQ with his Serpent 720 and 960 respectively continuing his dominant form from the first 2 rounds of the National series. In the 1/10th scale race it was a great dice between Mike Wiseman and Travis Carlyle, as they fought for the win with Wiseman eventually coming out on top. Finishing 2nd, Carlyle now leads the Championship with one round to go while another local youngster, Shaun White, rounded off the podium in 3rd. The 1/8th scale was fought out at a furious pace with four drivers contesting the lead, with Mike Wiseman, Hein Kotze, Jacques Liebenberg and Wayne Joelson never more than a few seconds apart. At the 20-minute mark, Kotze and Joelson came in to change tyres, which saw them lose time on Wiseman and Liebenberg who opted to run the full distance on one set. Liebenberg eventually dropped back a bit, giving Wiseman the win by over a lap at the end of the 45 minute final from Joelson in 2nd and Liebenberg 3rd.

Jason Branham wins ROAR Region 9

Xray have a report on their site from the recently held ROAR Region 9 Off Road Championships hosted by Mike’s Hobbies and Gulf Coast Raceway. Qualifying saw the buggy TQ go to Team Losi driver Dave Mangelsdorf while in the truggy class it was again Dave Mangelsdorf that took the TQ. The Expert truggy A-main saw Branham and Mangelsdorf battling together for the first 10 minutes waiting for one or the other to make a mistake and eventually Mangelsdorf did. Branham eventually ran away with the lead to win by a lap with Mangelsdorf finishing 2nd and Jimmy Matsler in 3rd. The Expert buggy A-main saw Jason Branham crash early in the main which dropped him to the back of the pack letting Dave Mangelsdorf and David Joor to run away with the lead. After the 9 min. mark Mangelsdorf and Joor were lapping Branham as he was struggling to get back on pace. Once Branham broke away from the back of the pack and moved up through the field and got his lap back and was once again on pace and was catching the leaders in a hurry. With 5 mins to go Branham caught Mangelsdorf and passed him to take the win.

Ronny Arnesen wins Norwegian EFRA GP

Ronny Arnesen wins Norwegian EFRA GP

Our partners Neo Buggy have been covering the Norwegian EFRA GP held this weekend in Skien that saw HoBao racer Joesph Quagraine take the TQ in qualifying. On finals day the rain came and put a bit of a dampener on the day but pole man Quagraine picked up where he left off at the end of qualifying and took the lead from the start up until 20 minutes in when he crashed onto his roof. A confused turn marshall stopped his cars engine, thinking something was wrong, ending the hopes of a win for the Finnish driver. Chris Svensson took over the lead from Quagraine up until 4 minutes from the end when his driveshaft broke taking him out on the spot, but he came home 4th anyway. This allowed local Norwegian driver Ronny Arnesen into the lead where he could control the rest of the race and take the win from Frode Skauen in 2nd and Steffen Culmsee in 3rd.
