Chinese National Junior Championship

Chinese National Junior Championship

Last weekend saw one of Chinas biggest annual races, the National Junior Championships, run at the B.M.W. track 200 kilometres from Hong Kong. Thousands of students had attended the local qualifying races hoping to claim a place at the main race but only 12 teams managed to make it to the Championships. In the 1/8th scale buggy class it was 15 year old LInJunBin, who was driving a Team Losi 8ight, that took the win having started in 10th spot. Starting near the rear of the field he had to push and after 3 laps he was up into 2nd place and a few minutes later, when the current leader HongNanfang broke his car and retired, LInJunBin could take the lead and go on to win the race.

Neil Cragg wins UK RallyX Rd4

Neil Cragg wins UK RallyX Rd4

Last weekend at Pendle, under favourable weather conditions, saw the running of the re-scheduled round 4 of the BRCA 1/8 off road series. Qualifying saw HoBao driver David Crompton take a comfortable pole position ahead of recently crowned European 2wd electric buggy Champion Neil Cragg, racing the Team Associated RC8, in 2nd. The main final saw David take an early lead from Simon Willets after Neil made a small error which dropped him behind Simon. At about the 5 minute mark Neil managed to get past Simon and then set about trying to catch David. Over the next 10 minutes or so Neil chased very hard and managed to get the gap down to about 2 seconds when David had a throttle servo failure. A very unfortunate end to what was shaping up to be a tremendous battle. After David’s retirement Neil dropped into a cruise mode as he had about a 30 second lead which he maintained to the flag to take his the 3rd win of the season ahead of the Kyosho pairing of Karl Jackson and Elliot Boots in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Joseph Quagraine wins Nordic Champs

Joseph Quagraine wins Nordic Champs

Neo Buggy reports – JQ has taken victory at the Nordics – a well deserved victory; now 4 Nordic wins to his name! The start was pretty messy, Robert assumed the lead after Christoffer got taken out, and then fought a bit with Joe, who after a while dropped back. Christoffer was now last and pushing his way up. By about 10mins it was clear that Robert was really flying, his car looked real good, JQ was fighting with other drivers, while Robert was able to build a lead. Christoffer was now fighting his way up and fast, using an aggressive fuel strategy he was able to fight back. By about the 20-25min mark Robban’s lead was down and JQ was really looking strong, Robban had a few bad laps including one notable moment where a marshall literally held his car for 5secs and let about 4 drivers past giving him massive traffic. JQ capitalised and thru fuel stops began to build a serious lead. Robban fell back, and was caught and passed by Christoffer. By about 35mins, Joe was still pushing, having lapped everyone but Chris in 2nd, Linus was also pretty close to Robban in 4th & 3rd… In the end, Joseph took a great victory, followed by Christoffer close to/or a lap down, then Robban.

RC Pro East Series Rd2 – Race Report

RC Pro East Series Rd2

CEN team driver Gene ‘The Machine’ Hickersen has been in touch and provided us with a report from the 2nd round of the RC Pro East series which was held last weekend at Lake Park in Tampa, Florida.

Drivers came down to sunny FL from as far as North Carolina to compete for the East Coat RC Pro Championship. There was around 145 entries even with a 60% chance of rain. Friday was open practice on the fast and technical layout. JR Mitch was spotted driving his Team Associated RC8 for the 1st time since the ROAR Nationals last month. I drove really bad at the Nationals, as 63rd was by far the worst I have ever done at a National race in my 21 year racing career, so I was thinking about making changes to my car to find some extra speed to get back on pace.
