Kim Ki Heung heads the Nitro class at SIGP

Korean driver Kim Ki Heung has completed practice for the 1/8th scale Nitro class in Xiamen as the top seed going into qualifying. The Shepherd driver came through from the 2nd fastest heat, beating out a whole host of international names in both rounds of controlled practice to make his intentions known going into qualifying. Behind it was World Championship finalist Jeff Hamon in 2nd, some 6 tenths back with his Serpent, while Maxima team mates Meen Vejrak and Charlee P were 3rd and 4th. Having spent 2 days here in China to test ahead of today’s official action, Kim declared himself happy with his OS powered Velox and said that he is a fan of the track layout that the organisers have used for the event.

Jack Hirst TQs & wins at 2020 AWS Rd2

The second round of the 2020 AWS was held at the NDOR Notts & Derby Off Road club in the UK last weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Jack Hirst with the TQ and win, a lap in front of runner-up, Mitch Booth after the 15-minute main final. Kieran Cox came in 3rd while Matt Lewis and Liam Brocklehurst rounded out the top 5 results.

Reds Racing signs Burak & Berkan Kilic

Reds Racing have announced the signing of young and talented Burak and Berkan Kilic to their factory team for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The two brothers will be using Reds Racing nitro engines and electronics and will be attending several important races in the next months. Burak and Berkan are both really enthusiastic and proud of being part of Reds Racing team.

Florida Nitro Series Rd2 – Report

Race 2 of the Florida Nitro Series as held at the Arcadia-based Nugget’s Ranch Raceway this past weekend in pretty low temperatures. In the 1/8th Pro class it was Bobby Horan with the win in the 30-minute A-main event, some two seconds in front of Tony Rice as Rafael Angulo completed a very close top 3 finish just two seconds behind Tony.

Yusuke Sugiura crowned JMRCA Nitro Buggy Champion

The Futaba Buggy Track in Ichihara, Japan hosted the 2019 JMRCA 1/8th Buggy National Championships. Mugen’s Yusuke Sugiura grabbed the overall top qualifier spot and he would also walk away with the title after the main final, securing his third consecutive national Nitro Buggy title. Yusuke left behind his Mugen teammates, Kouki Kato and Kenji Tsuruta in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Jonathan Skidmore wins Slough Winter Series Rd2

Round 2 of the Slough Winter Series took place at the Remote World Model Car Club in Slough this past weekend. Held in low traction conditions it was Agama/Bullitt’s Jonathan Skidmore who made the best out of it, taking the TQ and also the win in the 20-minute main final, leaving behind his brother William (Agama/Bullitt) in 2nd while Simon Reeves (HB Racing/Reds Racing) came in 3rd, a lap short of Joni and William. Agama/Bullitt’s Jon Hazlewood lost what looked like a secured 3rd place finish due to some mishaps and had to settle for 4th overall.

Bradley Baird teams up with Team Associated & CML

CML Distribution welcome 10-time Irish Champion, National A-finalist and world wide 1/8th off-road racer, Bradley Baird to the Team Associated 1/8th off-road team. Bradley will be on hand trackside at most major events and CML look forward to working with Bradley through 2020 and beyond.

Ryan Maifield wins at The Nitro Compound Points Series

The Nitro Compound of Maricopa, Arizona hosted a round of their Points Series last weekend. The Open Nitro Buggy class saw Mugen’s Ryan Maifield taking the overall TQ and he would also sweep the 20-minute A-main event, taking the win a lap in front of Xray’s Tanner Stees as Mugen’s Mike Truhe came in 3rd to round out the podium some 5.7 seconds in front of 4th place finisher, Tommy Hinz.
