The 2020 Greek Electric Touring Car Championship was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens last weekend, attracting more than 30 drivers to compete in the two Modified and Stock racing classes. In the Touring Modified category it was Vaggelis Papachristos (Xray) who took the pole position after winning twi out of four qualifying rounds in front of Dimitris Mitropoulos (Xray) and Tasos Batas (Xray) who won a single qualifying round each. LCRC Raceway’s Season Opener race attracted over 300 entries last weekend. While Jared Wiggins took the win in Nitro Truggy, it was Jamie Grayek (Team Associated) with the overall victory in Expert Nitro Buggy. Coming from P5 on the grid Jamie worked his way up in the single 15-minute A-main event, swapping the lead with Jason Schreffler (HB Racing) and Ethan MacKanick (Xray) several times. This year’s Caribbean On-road Nationals in Puerto Rico saw a very good turn out of drivers. Due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic and to keep safe distance, only six drivers would qualify directly to the mains and one bump-up from the lower mains would make for a seven driver grid. The Nitro Sedan qualifying saw Franco Machado (Infinity/Max Power) taking the TQ from Guillermo Camacho (Capricorn/Max Power) 2nd and Juan C. Aguirre (Infinity/Ielasi Tuned) in 3rd. Round 1 of the Spanish Electric On-road Championship was hosted by the ARCA club in Madrid last weekend in Touring Stock, Formula, and Tamiya Euro Stock Truck classes. In the Formula category it was Alex Aroca with the overall TQ after winning three of the five qualifying rounds. Miguel Fernandez came in 2nd, winning a single qualifier, as Jose Antonio De Lara came in 3rd on the grid, also TQing a single qualifying round. Thunder Alley Raceway of Beaumont, California played host to round 2 of the JBRL Nitro Series this past weekend. The event attracted over 230 entries, including some of the country’s fastest off-road racers and several IFMAR World Champions, and in the premier class of Expert Nitro Buggy it was Mugen’s Ryan Maifield, 2017 IFMAR 2WD and 4WD Buggy World Champion, with the overall TQ from Spencer Rivkin, 2019 2WD World Champion, in 2nd. New from RudeBits is a black colour off-road rear wing for 1/8th scale buggies and trucks. At only 50g the wing is very lightweight and moulded from a very flexible material to eliminate the snap affect most similar rear wings have. The 2020 Greek 1/8th Nitro GT Championship was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens this past weekend. The race attracted a total of 17 entries and was held in hot summer weather conditions. In qualifying Kostas Sidiropoulos (SWorkz) was able to take the pole position in front of Michalis Xristodoulou (Mugen) and Konstatinos Terlepanis (Serpent). In the 45-minute A-final Sidiropoulos took an early lead showing good pace but nitro newcomer Dimitris Ioannidis (Xray) was able to take advantage of his long stints to take the lead for a couple of laps before retiring with a mechanical failure. The iconic MRTM track in Lostallo hosted the opening round of the Swiss Electric On-road Nationals this past weekend. In the premier Touring Modified class it was Antonino Mangiaracina with the overall TQ after winning three of the four qualifying rounds as Michele Manzo, who scored a single round TQ, came in 2nd on the grid.
