Season 5 of the Urban Touring Series UTS got underway this past weekend with the opening race attracting a record 41 racers. The season opener also saw the expansion of the series to officially include the 45+ Masters TC Class (13.5T Spec Blinky), which saw a strong 16-car grid take to the start. In the premier 17.5T Blinky Touring class, qualifying was a close run affair with three different racers taking TQs in the three qualifying rounds. The warm-up race to the Czech Electric On-road Nationals was held in Jedovnice this past weekend. The weekend kicked off with a 3-hour practice session on Friday night, allowing the driver to get into the groove on the somewhat low-traction track. Racing-wise and in the Formula class it was Lukas Hoch who would win the opening A-main, coming from the 2 spot on the grid, however he had to settle for 2nd place in A2 following an incident with another driver that tweaked Lukas’ car. The opening round of the 2020 Euro Offroad Series was held in Daun, Germany this past weekend, attracting nearly 460 entries. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class it was Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski with the overall TQ after winning three of the four qualifying rounds as single round TQ, Lee Martin (Yokomo) came in 2nd on the grid. SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier, Schumacher’s Jörn Neumann and Xray’s Bruno Coelho completed the top 5 result. Round four of the 2019/20 BRCA LMP12 nationals took place in Chesterfield last weekend. A capacity entry of 85 drivers took part in the weekend’s racing. Unfortunately round 3 of the championship had to be cancelled in December due to structural issues with the venue meaning that the Championship has been reduced to three counting rounds from five. Chesterfield hit their usual high standards laying a challenging track on perfectly smooth carpet laid with no tape joins to upset the cars. The new RaceRoof indoor on-road track in Istanbul, Turkey held round 2 of the RaceRoof Series last weekend in Touring Pro Stock and Club Stock classes. The race was well attended and even the freezing weather did not lure the competitors away. In the Pro Stock class it was Atahan Yildiz with the overall win, coming from the 2 spot on the grid, leaving behind Alain Sarafyan in 2nd overall. The city of Cincy, Ohio played host to the ROAR Region 5 Carpet Championship recently. The race was held in several electric on-road classes and after Friday’s practice, Saturday morning brought on the three rounds of qualifying that would result in Myron “Battman” Kinnard (Team Associated) holding two of the three classes’ TQ at the end of the day. The third round of the 2019/20 Essex Winter Series took place last weekend, and once again featured another full capacity entry across the Modified, Super Stock and Front Wheel Drive classes. The fourth round of the X-Factory UK Winter Series took place last Saturday, with everyone keen to blow off the cobwebs after the break over Christmas and New Year.
