Harper wins EWS Round 4 – Report

The fourth round of the high profile UK based EWS took place over the weekend.  In Modified, Elliott Harper (Schumacher) took the TQ, but each time was only a few tenths of a second ahead of the chasing pack.  Kyle Branson lined up second ahead of his Xray team mate, and winner of the previous event, Harley Eldridge, with Alex Thurston rounding out the top four for Yokomo.  In the A Final, Kyle kept the pressure on Elliott for the entire five minutes, with Harley and Alex looking to pick up any pieces. Elliott withstood the pressure and managed to take the win, with Harley taking second from Kyle on the very final corner.

Orlowski adds MIBO International to tally

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has added the MIBO International race to his 2024 winning tally with victory ahead of 2023 Champion Ronald Volker.  The current benchmark in both onroad and offroad carpet racing but unable to do offroad  at the unique Czech event due to a lack of mechanic, Orlowski dominated proceedings in Modified Touring Car.  Taking TQ honours after 3 round of qualifying, but completing the clean sweep by taking Q4 & 5,  in the opening A-Main he checked out early his prototype Schumacher finishing 2.5-second clear of Volker’s Mugen.  A2 would start with Volker looking a lot more of a challenger and running close enough to give Orlowski the first bit of pressure of the weekend.  A tyre additive driven improvement, unfortunately the advantage faded in the second half of the race and Orlowski again cruised to win and the overall MIBO International from Volker with Xray’s Jan Ratheisky completing the podium in Hrotovice.

Orlowski Top Qualifier at MIBO International

Based on recent form there was never much doubt he’d be a force on his MIBO International debut and in a dominant performance that is exactly what Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has done securing the overall TQ in Modified Touring Car.  Starting the day in the Czech Republic with a TQ run, the Pole continued to make the top of the times sheets his own locking in pole position with a third TQ run in Q3 but not done he would cap off the day with a fourth in the day’s final onroad action.  Shadowing the 1:12 World Champion every run but never close enough to mount a challenge, defending inaugural MIBO International Champion Ronald Volker will start 2nd on the grid with one final qualifier on Sunday morning to determine how the rest of the grid will line up behind the World Champions.

Orlowski from Volker in Q1 at MIBO International

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has kicked off qualifying at MIBO International with a TQ run in Modified Touring Car ahead of Mugen Seiki’s Ronald Volker.  Making his debut at the Czech race, the very much on foam multiple discipline racer survived an up on two wheels moment to top the 5-minute qualifier by 1.8-seconds ahead of the defending Champion.  Following up on his pace in practice, Pekko Iivonen completed the Top 3 while Patrick Gollner lead the charge from Xray with four fastest time ahead of team-mates Jan Ratheirsky and Martin Hudy.

Volker tops MIBO practice while Xray leads Offroad

The second edition of MIBO International got underway at 17:00 this evening in the Czech Republic with Mugen Seiki’s Ronald Volker setting the pace on the onroad track as Xray led the charge on the offroad track.  Packing in 5 rounds of practice before drivers retired to the Sports V Hotel’s bar and restaurant to socialise & discuss a plan of attack for the rest of the event, defending Champion Volker set the fastest 3-consecutive laps ahead of Schumacher pairing Michal Orlowski and Pekko Iivonen.  On the track layout, which is getting a very favourable reaction from drivers, it was the Xray of Patrick Gollner that was fourth fastest ahead of Jan Ratheisky and the factory Yokomo of Christopher Krapp.  Over on the offroad half of the hall, in 2WD Buggy it was the star of last year’s inaugural event Bartosz Zalewski who set the pace from his car’s design Martin Bayer followed by a gaggle of MIBO International race debutants that included Schumacher’s Daniel Kobbevik, Sworkz’ Jörn Neumann, Team Associated’s Joona Haatanen and Sworkz’s Micha Widmaier.  Former European Champion Bayer was fastest in 4WD followed by veteran Hupo Honigl completing the Top 3 ahead of Haatanen and Zalewski.

Smokem ARC A10 top decks

Smokem Racing has released a number of top decks for the ARC A10 and A10’23 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  The RS-X 1-piece top deck is a slight departure from their normal RS design (which ARC had adopted with the release of the A10) and has slightly stiffer but longer flex than factory top deck, yet is not as stiff as the split top deck setups.  The RS-X is more responsive under certain conditions yet still offers a smooth feel, which was preferred by some of our drivers.  Included in the latest release are the RS Split Top Decks that feature a slight taper and a thin cutout for a more linear flex.  The Rear Split Top Deck features Smokem’s trademark recessed V-shaped brace for slightly more flex than the stock split top deck for improved corner speed. While for the front, there is a standard design with a long thin cutout for a softer, smoother steering feel. To compliment that there is a version with a recessed W-shaped brace delivering improved steering response.  Finally the RS X-Low Rear Shock Tower is designed for racers that prefer traditional vertical body mounting.  This shock tower offers a stiffer mounting platform than the factory horizontal body post brace for superior rear down force compared to the factory design.

Xray X4 Rubber 3D Bumper with Inner “H” Profile

New from Xray for its X4 1:10 Electric Touring Car platform is the Rubber 3D printed bumper with Inner “H” Profile.  Exceptionally light as well as durable, the “H” profile allows for the cells of the bumper to be made super thin yet still lightweight and carry the desired compression characteristics.  The 3D printed material doesn’t fold or break in crashes, and allows more airflow under the body, with the high aerodynamic efficiency improving front traction.  It fits all X4 kits.
