Last weekend’s The Dual race was a 2-day Reedy Race style format that saw racing action at two different tracks with combined points from 1/8th Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy classes. Day 1 was run at Pro-Line’s test track while for day 2 racers travelled to Thunder Alley Raceway. Some big names of the industry attended the Invitational class including Ty Tessman, Jared Tebo, Cody King, Ryan Cavalieri, and Ryan Maifield just to name a few. The organisers of the 2014 IFMAR 1/8 Nitro Buggy World Championships have been in touch to issue an extended hotel list for the event that will take place from the 18th to 27th of September in Giardini Naxos, in the province of Messina. …Josh Ford laid it down in A3 to seal 2nd overall followed by Kevin Tomsovic. The last Nitro main would be the Nitro Buggy. TQ would be Tyler Jones with the only two 17 lap runs for the entire weekend, round 1 on Green Hybrids and round 3 on test Dirt Webs in Green. In the 45 minute final Tyler chose to go with the same set of Dirt Webs used from his qualifier. In all classes, improved computing power has led to better car designs, as manufacturers are now able to design and test parts quicker and more accurately in the virtual world, before manufacturing any prototype parts and testing them in the real world. Manufacturing processes have been improved, with more accurate machines producing parts quicker (and therefore cheaper!) than before. Newly crowned European B Champion Thilo Toedtmann with his Xray/Orcan combination claimed the best time in the heats with a healthy margin over René Puepke, Daniel Toennessen und Benjamin Lehmann. Team Xray’s John Ermen made the perfect debut in the Euro Nitro Series as he overcame less than perfect conditions in Austria to win the second round of the new nitro onroad championship. Having had to miss the season opener in a sunny Italy last month due to clashing date with his National Championship, the Dutch driver would survive the super wet conditions of the Aigen track to win the 45-minute endurance test to win by two laps from Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch. …return of the The Dual race for the weekend of the 1st of June. The Dual is a unique race that sees two days of racing on two entirely different tracks – the Pro-Line test track on the 31st of May and Thunder Alley Raceway on the 1st of June. Run in several nitro buggy, an open electric buggy and invite nitro buggy and truggy classes, the race will see Jimmy Babock as the announcer, a raffle for the racers, a Monster Energy trophy girl for the looks and many more. …cleared. It was decided to skip the round of practice in favour of starting the heats at 9am in order to get the 4 rounds of qualifying complete before the rain showers arrived in the afternoon.
