The last race, round number 8, of the Florida Nitro Championship – FORGASS – was held in Arcadia, Florida at the Nuggets Raceway track. The racers had great weather all weekend with lots of sun. All the champions had been determined in Race 7 so this race gave everyone a chance to test, try to go fast and enjoy RC racing at it’s best. However last year the tire rules changed completely as we had spec large-size tires which changed driving characteristics a lot as the spec tires were not only large but also very hard. That is why I had to concentrate on improving the steering characteristics of the car, while at the same time making sure that the car would be still easy to drive and with enough traction. Coming soon from Kyosho is the Fazer VE Ferrari FXX ReadySet 4WD touring car. Active Hobby Products from Japan soon have a line of 1/12th scale foam tyres available. Coming first as 35 shore front and 30 shore or 35 shore rear tyre the donuts are already cut to a low profile diameter making excessive truing unnecessary. Each set will contain 3 pairs and the tyres are designed to fit most of today’s 1/12th wheels. Designed for carpet and high-grip asphalt tracks the foams will become available by end of April. Japanese company Azarashi, known for their optional buggy bodyshells and 4WD buggy conversion kits, are about to enter the on-road market with another conversion. Teasing with a somewhat blurry photo it appears like the designers combined their Team Associated B44.1 Grayseal conversion with short length touring car wishbones and a front bumper to create the Roadseal, a 1/10th 4WD touring car with rear motor, backward mounted speed controller and a rear located battery compartment for 2S shorty LiPo battery packs. …had a real close battle for the victory in the Classic challenge. The gap was below one second for the whole run. In the end Frank won with less then a tenth of a second in front of Patrick. Third place went to Erwin Kruse. For round 4 Patrick found back to old strength. He drove a new fastest lap of 25,2s what was nearly a second faster than his rivals. …interested to test the engine he has developed and produced and there was a no real surprise for me as the engine is exactly what I was expecting from him – best quality and the highest reliability of any engines I ever run. After the several races where I successfuly run the engine I have decided to keep the engine installed in my car for the 2014 racing season.
