…would spread a bit as Pontus dropped down the field by the first round of pitstops but he was able to close the gap on Jessica again when his concentration came back by about mid-race. Ultimately however it was Jessica who brought home the win as Pontus was able to secure the runner-up spot despite running out of tyres in the closing stages. A lap down it was Kristian Johansson who would round out the overall top 3 result. With his 2nd place finish Pontus was able to secure himself the Middle Swedish Cup title for 2019. East RC of Jakarta, Indonesia held their 2019 East Summer Race this past weekend. With a fresh asphalt which resulted almost 1.5 seconds improvement of laptime, it was Meen Vejrak took the TQ spot in the Modified class, followed by Nicholas Lee and Bowie Ginting in 2nd and 3rd, while Charlee Phutiyotin rounded up the 4th and Muhammad Izzah secured 5th on the grid. Alexander Hagberg has TQ’d the final round of qualifying at the ETS Season Finale in Slovakia, the result giving the Swede second spot on the grid behind Xray team-mate and newly crowned Champion Bruno Coelho. Having wrapped up the overall TQ with a trio of TQ runs, Coelho would lead away Ronald Volker in Q4 but all the attention was on Hagberg and Lucas Urbain as they had new tyres for the final round. …the forthcoming round 5 held at the AMCA Apeldoorn club in The Netherlands. Behind Timo it was Tobias with the runner-up spot from Reinder in 3rd. In the LMP2 Stock class local heroes Kai Asmer and Rainer Schad lead the way in the opening two qualifiers with the two sharing a TQ each. Thomas Stenger, in only his second RC-Lemans race ever, however would score the overall TQ some 66 thousands of a second from Rainer and Kai. Joachim Behnken and Michael Holla completed the top 5. Round 5 of the 2019 season of the Urban Astro Buggy Champs in the 2WD class was held this past weekend at the challenging rooftop astroturf offroad circuit of Urban RC in Singapore. Warm sunshine greeted racers for once on an off-road race weekend. Running four qualifying rounds, the TQ fight would go to the wire as Sean Lee, Esmail Apandi and Dominic Quek, who was making his season debut, each TQ’d the first three rounds. A two time winner up in the Austrian hills, the Championship leader will start ahead of team-mate Jilles Groskamp, the reigning Champion unable challenge to match the Finn’s blistering pace. Claiming his best ever ENS qualifying result, Jakub Rozycki will start from 3rd on the grid for the 45-minute encounter, which, due to inbound rain has been rescheduled to run tonight. The third and final round of this year’s Xray Racing Series Alpe Adria was held at the Fener track in Italy. The finale attracted familiar and new faces with a couple of 1/5th scale regulars attending in the 1/8th class – making for some competitive racing.
