Hamon and Serpent part ways

Jeff Hamon has announced he and his chassis sponsor Serpent are parting ways. The 1:8 Onroad World Championship finalist joined the iconic nitro onroad manufacturer during the 2019 season and just recently represented them at the ISTC World Championships in California. Achieving second place for the brand at the 1:8 GT World Championships last year in Sydney, just two weeks ago he finished on the podium at the Australian Electric Touring Car Nationals. In announcing the news, the popular Australian said, ‘It’s with a heavy heart to announce that I will be parting ways Serpent. We have shared some great results and memories over the past 5 years, I have met some fantastic people and had unbelievable experiences that would not have been possible without Serpent. A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Lau, Joaquin, Michael, Stef, Grace and Felix for everything – Its hard for me to put into words how appreciative I am for all you have done for me.’

JConcepts RC10B7 Aero Upper Wing

New from JConcepts is this Aero Upper Wing for the Team Associated RC10B7 1:10 2WD Buggy platform. Aerodynamics is a key point on any vehicle, and particularly 1:10 offroad vehicles, and JConcepts regularly experiments with aero features throughout the entire product line. Front wings are not a new concept, however, they are new to the latest generation of vehicles with demanding high-speed and grippy circuits. Together with their team drivers, they have developed a new high-performance front wing for the Team Associated RC10B7. Mounted above the front shock tower, the Aero front wing mounts in “clean air” and is quite easy to trim, use and test without sacrificing all important track time. This option is made to fit updated shock guard and tower pieces made available by Team Associated. The Aero wing features a high-attack design with trim-able rear gurney options. A radical, edgy design which functions and compliments the Finnisher, Silencer, and Punisher body design includes elements and features fresh for the latest offroad conditions.

World Champions tour Foshan ahead of FEMCA C/ships

It’s not just all racing duties when you are a World Champion! When you have 2 multiple World Champions in town you want to make the most of the opportunity to help promote RC Racing. Well, that is exactly what happened today with Bruno Coelho and Naoto Matsukura ahead of this weekend’s FEMCA ISTC Championships in Foshan, China. With his GDC Indoor Race Club track hosting this year’s FEMCA race that will crown the Touring Car Champion of Asia, Gavin Kwok took a number of the visiting drivers to the City’s Nanfeng Ancient Kiln which was built during the Ming Dynasty. The oldest existing active ceramic wood-burning dragon kiln in the world it has a history of more than 500 years. Accompanied by a photographer & videographer to capture the visit, there was an interesting and novelty electric bus ride from the track to the city’s major tourist site. With Matsukura sitting up front in the bus beside the driver it was a very entertaining ride and one which highlight that the Japanese racer could have a career as a tourist guide once he decides to hang up his radio!! With a day of free practice ahead of drivers tomorrow (Friday), the FEMCA Championship gets underway in earnest on Saturday morning with seeding followed by qualifying before finals on Sunday decide the new FEMCA Champion. Schumacher Cougar 2 Works ‘Classic’

Schumacher has announced it is to launch the Cougar 2 Works ‘Classic’ which they describe as ‘a homage to one of the most beautiful and best performing buggies ever created. The Cougar 2 Works was the ultimate development of the Schumacher aluminium pan chassis 2WD buggies of the late 80’s and early 90’s. The Cougar 2 Works ‘Classic’ is a reproduction of this Iconic buggy, with subtle improvements to durability and battery fitting, for modern vintage racing. It features an eye catching violet anodised chassis and motor plates. It includes high performance period option parts such as roller driveshafts, carbon fibre shock towers, ‘Works’ suspension geometry and low friction ‘Pro’ spec shock absorbers. Dealer pre-orders are being taken with kits due late December 2024.

Infinity IF18 Sway Bar Stoppers

Infinity has released new Sway Bar Stoppers for the front stabiliser on its World Championship winning IF18-3 1:8 Onroad Car. By making the contact surface with the bearing spherical, smoother movement of the sway bar is achieved. Durability has also been greatly improved by using steel. The Stabiliser Stoppers available in 2.3, 2.5, and 2.7mm. Also new from the Japanese manufacturer is a new Steering Knuckle Plate for their IF15-2 and IF15-2W. This allows for a greater steering angle of the outer tire in corners than the standard kit version. This will make tighter cornering possible, and can improve high speed steering on larger tracks.

Gonzales joins Team EAM

Team EAM has announced the addition of US Offroad racer Matthew Gonzales to its race team. The 2-time ROAR Spec National Champion and Modified A-Main finalist will use their batteries in all his vehicles for the upcoming events. The former double winner of the annual Kinwald Klassic will be present at most of the 1:10 Offroad events for technical support of the Hobbywing team as well as he will squeezing in racing as much as possible. Better known as “Matty G”, he is a specialist for horsepower in stock classes, with EAM stating they are very proud to have him on board and to have him choose to use their batteries.

Reedy Zappers SG6 Competition HV-LiPo

Reedy has released a new line of HV-Lipo batteries it is calling Zappers SG6. Incorporating new advancements in cell manufacturing and battery construction they have improve power output, lower internal resistance and increased durability. Featuring a 3.8V/cell nominal voltage which means that the battery can be safely charged to 4.35V/cell, this can be useful in applications such as 1:8 eBuggy where maximum power output and run time are critical. Even when the typical 8.40-8.44V (4.2-4.22V/cell) charging limit is enforced, the SG6’s inherently flat discharge curve results in higher voltage deeper into the race and more consistent power output from start to finish. Available in nine configurations for a variety of onroad and offroad applications, a high quality, durable hard case helps prevent damage while embedded socket connectors keep power robbing resistance to a minimum. Male ESC connectors are included with each Zappers SG6 HV-LiPo battery.
