History Lessons

…For those people who didn’t know RC racing until 2.4GHz came around, I’ve found it fascinating to see their reactions when finding out how the sport used to be and how events used to run. Seeing the old cars and ‘technology’ also opens people’s eyes to how things have changed and just how quickly our hobby has advanced. It’s not just the cars that have advanced – the way meetings and events run has changed too. The days of sending postal entries in are long gone, replaced on online booking and payment systems. Automatic timing and lap counting provide amazing…

Martin Bayer wins Czech Buggy championship Rd7

Round number 7 of the Czech 1/8th off-road championship was held in Dolní Bukovsko. The weather forecast looked everything but promising but at the end it stayed dry and nice all weekend to make for a worthy last race of the season. Martin Bayer (Xray) already won the championship two weeks ago and used the race to try and test a couple of new things on his XB9 buggy. Obviously they worked very well as Martin took the overall TQ for the finals but he struggled with the upcoming wind letting him drop to third after the semis. He then…

VRC Pro Column – Nitro Buggy testing

…possible level of setup and racing feedback. Virtual Racing Industries has also published an early beta test video. The footage was captured from test events organised on two new tracks, Psycho Nitro Blast 2012, and Speed Paradise in Buenos Aires, the 2012 IFMAR Worlds track. The cars were driving decent enough right now to give you a first impression of this exciting new class for VRC Pro. The physics, graphics and sound are certainly not finished, expect even better performance in all these areas in the final release which is slated towards end of the year. The 2 best points from each class, each day would count towards the overall win using a total of 8 finishes. With one full heat of Invitational drivers, each race was very exciting. For each…

Testing Times

…Just how much practice and testing is really needed? As a race organiser, I know that warm up meetings are more than just an opportunity for drivers to practice on the track – they are also a chance for the team running the races to test out all of their systems to make sure that they too are ready for the main event. So I wouldn’t be in favour of removing those type of meetings completely. I also saw in the meeting notes from the IFMAR meeting during the 1/8th On Road Worlds in Japan that they were going to…

Centro C4.2 alloy bulkhead & 2.5Β° suspension mount

…but a less bulky design compared to the kit’s plastic part for a sleeker overall appearance. At the same time rigidity is increased thanks to the stronger material which is ideal when racing modified classes. The second new part is the 2.5° rear hinge pink block that again is machined from high-quality aluminium and it comes black anodised. The suspension mount features 0.5° less toe compared to the kit 3° block for added straight line speed and a more agile handling on high bite tracks. Included with the block come suitable delrin hinge pin inserts.
