Round 4 of the BRCA Clubman Series electric on-road championship was help at the southern track of Adur. Showing record high temperatures, this would test the drivers to their limits looking at not over heating the control tyres and driving consistency. With the track not being used for electric on-road for a while, Saturday practice was all about rubbering in the track and building the grip up which is vital to not graining the tyres too much. Xray have confirmed that multiple US National Champion Paul Lemieux will compete at the season finale of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series at the Hudy Arena in Slovakia from the 19th to 21st of July. The Factory Xray driver has made a number of appearances at the World renowned series, his most recent coming last year at the fifth round of the championship in the Netherlands, prior to him winning the Worlds warmup race. Joe Herring from the Carlisle club took 4th place which was a great result for someone who just started racing in the last few weeks. Secondly, is a stock mini class running a standard Muchmore Clubman motor in which Keith Anderton took the overall win from Chris Briggs both running the T.O.P. Sabre FWD Mini. Last weekend, round 3 of the Spanish 1/8th EP Offroad Nationals was held at the Serracines track. The practice rounds were run on a very dusty track, without a clean racing line but for the first qualifying rounds, the grip was higher and the temperature over 30ºC, so you had to have a good package to be really competitive. Alberto Garcia TQ’d the first three qualifying rounds, ensuring the overall TQ, using the last two rounds to test different things looking for the main finals. …Meanwhile, the 3D files for all plastic parts were sent to an external company that “prints” for us the plastic parts from special polyamide which is not suitable for racing but gives us a perfect understanding of the shapes and fit of all composite parts before they are produced. As soon as all the first XB4 prototypes were produced, I personally assembled all the parts to get a feel for every single detail and also because this is one of my favorite phases of the project where we still get to play. …the puddles that had formed on the circuit. There were some mixed results after round 1 of qualifying due to the weather as you can imagine. After round 1 the track started to dry and we was extremely fortunate to not get anymore rain during the day, the earlier heats of round 2 saw drivers having to choose between wet tyres or slicks due to the mixed track conditions. …Heat race, which will run from July 19-21. Recently crowned National Champion Adam Drake will be returning for his third year to defend his crown at FRC and Ronda Drake will also be there and they have some surprise racers attending this year that have not been to FRC before.
