The third Large Scale Onroad Grandprix was held at the MRC REAL80 club in Groningen, The Netherlands last weekend. 48 Touring and four Formula drivers signed in, making for some competitive racing. Friday saw controlled practice, however due to rain it wouldn’t take place but thanks to a drying track later that day the drivers were able to get at least some laps in. …had some small mistakes, but Götzl came back with the win in A2, as Ales in return made a lot of mistakes, so it was all to decide in A3. Max was able to take the lead on the 2nd lap and would hold it until the last lap, but he made a mistake which cost him the win. So the podium stayed as it was after the qualifiers, as Michal took 3rd overall. In 4WD it was Max on the top in all three qualifiers, with fastest times and faster best laps every run. For the second race in succession it is Joern Nuemann who is the 4WD Top Qualifier at the Euro Offroad Series. The Schumacher driver secured the TQ from title favourite Bruno Coelho in the final round of qualifying in Austria with the Q4 time giving the German pole on the the tie break by 3/100ths of a second. Coelho would end up qualifying with a P4 run after mistakes in the second half. Behind the two former champions it will be Joona Haatanen who will start third on the grid. The East Shrewsbury BRC held the Weston Park race last weekend, attracting some of the UK’s fastest 1/8th off-road racers. After taking the top spot on the grid with five top qualifier runs in the Nitro Buggy class, Jon Howells went on to win the 20-minute A-main leading from start to finish. …super serious when these small cute cars are running around the track. With nothing but smiles on all of the spectator’s faces, the top five races in this class were staying consistent earning just the right amount of points to keep them in the positions they qualified. The second round of the Czech 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the Horni Jeleni track recently. The weekend kicked off a bit delayed due to heavy rain on Saturday morning, however the track was race-ready soon so things could get underway as planned. In 2WD Buggy, it was Team Associated driver Ales Bidovsky who topped the first two qualifying rounds to secure the overall TQ. …A2 and A3 for the overall from Timo and Rainer. Pro10 13.5T saw the running of 235mm and 200mm cars. Swiss racer Roland Wild with a 235mm converted Team Associated car took the overall TQ from Germany’s Kai Asmer (Xray). Pascal Fässler (DRC) came in 3rd with him and Kai sharing a round TQ. The opening two A-mains would be held in dry conditions and Roland took quite easy wins for the overall from Pascal Fässler and Andi Frattaroli (Fenix).
