Xray Racing Series Singapore – Report

The 2nd running of the Xray Racing Series Singapore took place this past weekend at the Urban RC onroad circuit in downtown Singapore. The event was headlined by the entry of Xray factory driver Alexander Hagberg, who joined his Singapore teammate, Dominic Quek. Singapore’s 2-time IFMAR finalist, Nicholas Lee, also participated, alongside a number of notable foreign entries. A total of 63 entries took to the starting grid, making this one of Singapore’s largest EP events in recent history. In qualifying for the premier Modified Class, the crowd witnessed a close battle by the trio of Lee, Quek and Hagberg, with each taking TQs in Q1, Q2 and Q3 respectively. With 2 of the 4 rounds counting, the overall TQ would be decided only on day 2 of the event when Q4 took place. With intense pressure to secure the coveted TQ spot, it was Hagberg who finished 0.5secs ahead of Quek to secure the pole position start in the finals. Lee would start 3rd.

Protoform Turismo 190mm touring car body shell

Following a couple of teasers Protoform have introduced their all-new Turismo body shell. Electric touring car racing has undergone yet another evolution since the multi-national championship-winning Type-S was released in 2017. Catering to the demands of racers needing ultra high-downforce, super low-CG aerodynamic body shells, Protoform is proud to release its latest contender for 190mm touring car racing: the Turismo. Designed and produced using the latest in 3D CAD and 5-axis milling technology, the Turismo is packed with new features for performance on track and ease-of-mounting while preparing to dominate the competition. The aerodynamic features include a radical high-downforce design with lowered nose and trunk sections, a cab-forward layout with extended A-pillar ribs for precise turn-in steering, and an extended decklid length with spoiler lip for massive rear grip. The rear wing posts moved outwards for increased stiffness and anti-tuck protection while the rear decklid stiffening ribs tie directly into the wing posts to reduce rear body flex. Cole Ogden sweeps Big Apple Hot Race Challenge

The inaugural Big Apple Hot Race Challenge was held at Barnstormers Raceway in Chester, New York this past weekend, attracting 200 entries for the 1/8th nitro and electric classes. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Cole Ogden with the TQ and win, leaving behind 4th place qualifier, Jason Schreffler in 2nd some two laps down. Runner-up after the qualifiers, Jamie Grayek came in 3rd to round out the podium as Anthony Mazzara and Aaron Kothman completed the top 5 results.

Fenix Classic Team Lotus 49 body shell

Fenix have introduced the new Classic Team Lotus 49 body shell for their Classique formula pan car kit. A replica of the iconic Lotus 49, the fully licensed body shell is of a multi-piece design in order to create a race-worthy yet scale replica of the legendary Lotus F1 car. Included comes a detailed decal sheet that helps to recreate the 1967 and 1968 season cars and the body is available separately to as part of the Classique kit line up.

Infinity IF11 aluminium camber bushings

Infinity has released two new aluminium camber bushings for their ETS race-winning IF11 Formula chassis. Supplied as a four piece set, the bushings are precision machined from extremely strong 7075-T6 aluminium. Available as a 1-dot or 2-dot option, the camber adjustment eccentric bushings can be used to adjust the camber angle at 1 degree or 1.5 degrees using the 1 dot while the 2 dot gives 0.5 degree or 2 degrees.

Rico Kröber takes North German 200mm title

Round 4 of the North German IC Track regionals was held at the MC Munster club this past weekend. In the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class it Rico Kröber (Shepherd) with the overall TQ and he would also come out on top in the 30-minute A-main event, leaving behind Tim Benson on the runner-up spot a lap down. Xray driver, Henrik Eilers came in 3rd to round out the podium. With the TQ and win, Rico secured himself his third consecutive regional title.

Elias Johansson doubles at Swedish Cup Rd2

The second round of the Swedish 1/10th EP Off-road Cup was held at the K-raceway and hosted by the Karlskrona Miniracing Club recently. The weekend started off with a Friday evening practice session. Come Saturday and 2WD time it was HB Racing’s Elias Johansson who led the way in A1 with Team Associated’s Wilhelm Skjoldebrand and Xray’s Alexander Landen being in a battle for the runner-up spot.
