In this race second man from last two races Petr Hanák had a bad day and finished in fifth place. The 2WD class saw EFRA European Championship A-finalist René Trauner taking TQ and the overall win before Andreas Janda and Kája Novotný. Running Proline’s new Diamond Back tyre, US National Champion Tessmann said his buggy felt really good on the new tyre but added the track which received some overnight repairs to fill ruts which appeared after yesterday’s single practice round had a lot more traction. Running the tyre for the entire 10 minutes the Canadian said he will use the second of today’s three scheduled runs to back to back test the Diamond Back against the Blockade tyre. The goal of these pistons was to reduce the oil blow-by on the outside of the piston and to tune the damping with the piston valving. They represent Avid’s latest development concept which helps tune high speed and low speed damping separately. Their test drivers found that these pistons help provide the traction and bump handling of running lighter shock oil or larger piston holes, while still maintaining the control of running heavier oil or smaller hole piston when taking on jumps. I had been feeling for some time that we would need to attempt a different approach in order to reduce traction rolling in extreme traction conditions, yet still be able to increase steering and improve corner speed. Before doing anything with the long proven suspension I first wanted to experiment with weight distribution, chassis flex and primarily CG. The 2012 Jimmy Babcock Racing League (JBRL) Series kicked off earlier this year on March 3rd at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA. With a record turnout for round #1, the stage was set for a great series.
