Lutz TQ at Asian Buggy Championships opener

Kyosho’s Ryan Lutz is the Top Qualifier at the opening round of the Asian Buggy Championships in New Zealand.  The first international 1:8 Offroad event to be held in the country,  the American secured the overall TQ in nitro buggy in dominant fashion his Alpha engined MP10 topping all four rounds of qualifying at the Counties RC in Auckland.  The first of the four rounds on the extended 2024 ABC calendar, with stops in the Philippines, Australia and Indonesia making up the rest of the ambitious championship, Lutz’s main challenge was to come from Aussie pairing Caleb Noble and Kyle McBride.  Driving his Tekno, Noble posted three P2 runs two of which were just a second off the TQ pace.  Returning to his first international since the World Championship in Spain in 2022, McBride took his Kyosho to a P2 run in the final qualifier.  Heading the local charge was Jayden Jamieson, the New Zealander taking his Xray fourth at the end of qualifying ahead of fellow Kiwi Logan Toia.  In eBuggy it was also Lutz who secured the TQ while in Nitro Truggy it was Jamieson top came out on top.

PNP-RC IF18/RX8 Carbon parts

New Spanish onroad accessories and optional parts brand PNP-RC (Pata Negra Parts) has announced the upcoming release of its latest carbon parts intended for 1:8 onroad chassis from Infinity and Xray.  For the IF18-3, they have produced a Radio Box 1.5mm Spacer with the carbon piece mounted in between the carbon radio tray and the plastic radio box lowering the complete radio box 1.5mm resulting in a lowered CG.  Also for the IF18 is the Front-Stiffner which is used in the forward holes of the front bulkheads, increasing the stiffness of this area making the car easier to drive.  For Xray’s RX8 they have created a Bumper Stiffer which increases the strength of the bumper and also makes the looks of the front area more aggressive.

Trinity Slot Machine 2 Motor

Trinity has announced the release of the new Slot Machine 2 Motor.  The new 2 version is a replacement for the original Slot Machine which in October was removed from the approved motor list of ROAR, the sanctioning body for RC racing in the United States & Canada.  ROAR discovered that significant changes had been made to the internal design of the Slot Machine motor after they had already been inspected.  Acquired by Horizon Hobby in July last year, the famous American electrics brand says the Slot Machine 2 motor is revamped, ROAR approved, and ready to get back into the winner’s circle.  Currently ramping up production, they will be notifying racers who registered for the Slot Machine Exchange Program once the new Slot Machine 2 motors start arriving.

Lens Bodies Ghibli 2.0 Touring Car Body

Having announced their first ever 1:10 touring car body last May, Lens Bodies has released digital renders of a new evolution of that design, the Ghibli 2.0.  Based on the experience of some of the best drivers in the category and after several hours of development and track tests, the Ghibli 2.0 is delivers better cornering due to the more tapered shape of the front wheel arches, and better grip thanks to the stiffening of the rear axle.  The body shell contributes to an improvement in lap times, making driving more relaxing leaving you more concentration to improve your speed.  The new Ghibli 2.0 will be available by mid February.

Associated confirm Haatanen for MIBO International

Team Associated has confirmed they will be represented at the upcoming MIBO International Race in the Czech Republic with the news that Joona Haatanen will make his debut at the second edition of the event.  The Finnish driver is the first team driver from the iconic offroad manufacturer to attend MIBO International and is the latest addition to what is turning into a very competitive field for the offroad side of the unique double track build.  A long time Team Associated supported driver, Haatanen had been absent from racing due to serving Finland’s mandatory military service but came back in impressive style with a strong showing at the recent EOS rounds.  Running from February 16-18, the event will see Haatanen fly the Associated flag against official team entries from Schumacher, Sworkz and Xray.  Having covered last year’s inaugural MIBO International, Red RC is looking forward to covering what is set to be much more intense offroad battle for top honours in Hrotovice.

Hudy Titanium Pivot Balls

Best known for their tools and set-up equipment, Hudy has released a 5mm spacing/4.9mm diameter titanium pivot ball set.  Coming as a set of two 3mm hex pivot balls, the in-house produced super lightweight ultra-precision pivot ball is hand ground for high durability and long life. While universal it also fits the front upper arms of its sister company Xray’s XB4 1:10 4WD Buggy.

Shepherd Velox 8.2 Rear Shock Tower Mounting Set

In the first of a series of new option part releases since its take over last by David Spashett’s Zen Racing, onroad nitro chassis manufacturer Shepherd has released a new Rear Shock Tower Vertical Mounting Set for its Velox 8.2.  The new rear Shock mount for its flagship 1:8 onroad chassis offers a much more tuneable option for the rear shock angle.
