Ride just released the latest evolution of its Formula 1 tire. Unlike the successful “H-1” (medium compound) and “S-1” (Soft Compound) rubber formulas, the “R-1” recipe is based on the now famous Touring Car compound known as the “Re Series” as used during the latest Euro Touring Series season. The “R-1” rubber formula has been slightly adapted for F1 applications and the tire inner profile/belt design is entirely new. The fifth round of the Short Course Showdown Nationwide Tour stopped at Hobby Town USA, Hobbyplex a massive facility that houses two full-sized RC race tracks. The tour once again brought a bevy of pro drivers and factory representatives to America’s heartland. Pro drivers like Brian Kinwald, and Billy Fischer arrived and were ready to do battle. In the deciding third A main Steven Hartson would take the win, Tebo finished second only .4 seconds behind, and Dustin Evans finished third. With both Tebo and Hartson finishing with a first and second in two of the mains, the title would come down to combined laps and times as the tie-breaker. Round 2 of the Italian 1/8th scale on road National Championships were held in Bologna recently where the temperature touched 40 degrees with the track close to 67 degrees. The temperatures were prohibitive for both engines and the cars themselves but it was a useful test ahead of the European Championships which are held this year in Portugal, where temperatures will be even higher. Pole position went to Andrea Pirani followed closely by Lamberto Collari in 2nd with Dario Balestri and Carmine Raiola completing the top 4 direct finalists.
