At last weekends opening Euro Offroad Series race we were given a look at the soon to be released Team Durango DESC210 short course truck. The truck was making its debut in the Czech Republic and the team were using the event to test the final production parts on the car. Based off the DEX210 buggy, the chassis is all but identical but made longer to accommodate the larger trucks dimensions. The tire treatment debate in 1/8th and 1/10th gas on road has certainly divided a lot of racers and the widespread use and inability to consistently and effectively test for these substances has pushed rule makers to allow the use of additive. Italian firm Motonica have the prototype of their all new Celero X1 telemetry system on display. This unit, which mounts on to the radio plate of your car, weighs approximately 40 grams and features a temperature gauge, accelerometers and GPS unit and allow you to track the engine temperature, speed and lap times through bluetooth. The information is transmitted live to your iPhone, which uses a specially designed app, using bluetooth. Having received clarifications on the new EFRA 1/10th IC Track rules just 2 weeks ago, today it is the turn of Sander de Graaf, 1/8th track chairman, to clarify the rules for his section. The confusion surrounding the new rules, voted on at the recent AGM, has again to do with the date of implementation. Most of the new rules will come into effect this year with the exception of the new lower weight limit of 2400 grams which will only come into affect in 2013. With Lloyd Storey and Danny McGee taking two round wins each in qualifying out of the fours rounds, Danny took TQ honours in the 2wd class by virtue of the faster overall time. Lloyd lined up second on the grid with Ellis Stafford in 3rd. A close fought final with some clean racing and Lloyd took the win with his Cougar SV.
