Ilia van Gastel wins in Groningen, takes title

Last Sunday the Dutch 1/8th scale National championship had its last race of the season, held on the very bumpy track of REAL80 in Groningen in the far north of Holland. The weather forecast was predicted a lot of rain starting in the morning but it stayed dry until the last semi final of the day. In the NK class it was Rick V taking the pole followed by Ilia v. Gastel, Jordy Blok and Gunther v. Stay. With rain falling in time for the main final, it was not only about who was the best racer in the wet,…

VRC Pro striving for ultimate realism

…cells and brushless motors. From a physics point of view there are only small differences between NiMh and LiPo but they still need to do more research on the discharge curves. With the brushless motors however more work has to be done on the speed controllers with the variable timing and how timing affects heat build-up on the motor. We hear that the game is close to completion and will go in to the Alpha test phase next month with the goal being for a full release in January. For more information about VRC go to the game website here….

Kurzbuch wins Rd5 in Switzerland, Pesenti takes title

The 5th Round of the Swiss 1/8th scale gas on road Nationals were held in the beautiful Swiss Alps on a short and bumpy track in Oey-Diemtigen. With dry and sunny weather all weekend, the first training sessions got underway on Saturday morning at 10am. All drivers were testing their material and setups on this track for the first time as normally everyone can test this on Friday afternoon, but the organizer had his own rules and there was no chance to change them. So the 7 minute training sessions in the morning were very hectic for all drivers. In…

Ryan Maifield double win at RC X-Fest

…didn’t come easy as the bumpy surface provided a challenge for the experienced driver from sunny Arizona. After qualifying, Ryan was poised and ready for the A-main. Mounting up a fresh set of JConcepts Subcultures in green compound proved to be the ticket for the developing conditions for the A-main. In the E-buggy class Ryan made quick work driving from the pole position, straight into the lead and completely checked out. In a test and tune opportunity for the upcoming ROAR Nationals, the RC8e was completely dialed, thanks to some hefty driving, Subcultures tires and Punisher body, Ryan was the…

Wischnewski is Euros top qualifier

…tomorrow he has now tested rain tires with his rain car in the last qualifier but he said it was hard to test, as the track was drying again. Danish driver Martin Christensen is obviously happy with being 2nd and believes that he fully deserves this position having had a good pace all week. Having competed, and won, at this track at last month’s Nordic Championships the Capricorn driver is feeling confident for tomorrow’s 45 minute A-main. He has a second car ready for the wet, but feels its just tires that will make the difference and has seen other…
