RUDDOG Racing RNX.4 .21 Offroad Competition Engine

RUDDOG Racing has announced its latest offroad engine offering with the new .21 competition spec RNX.4. Building on the success of its predecessor, the RNX22.3, the RNX.4 has been developed in collaboration with top racers including Marcus Kaerup who ran a prototype stage version of the RNX.4 at the 2024 World Championships in Redovan, Spain, where he secured a place in the A-Main.  This latest version features significant improvements in runtime, drivability, and durability, ensuring maximum efficiency and consistency on the track.  At the heart of the RNX.4’s improvements is the newly designed DLC-coated crankshaft, which increases durability, and improves fuel flow efficiency for a more responsive and consistent power band.  In addition, the optimised internal engine head is specifically designed for the different nitro percentages of fuel used in the EU and international markets, ensuring maximum performance and reliability in racing conditions.  Further enhancements include the Revolution Design Ultra Backplate, which improves fuel flow and efficiency, delivering extended runtime and smoother throttle response. Another premium addition is the Revolution Design Ultra Carburetor Dust Cover Seal, enhancing the carburetor’s sealing to protect against dust and debris, prolonging engine life, and ensuring consistent performance in harsh racing conditions.

Yokomo updated BL-RPX3 & BL-RPXS Speedos

Yokomo has updated both its BL-RPX3 & BL-RPXS brushless speed controllers with the release of V2 versions.  While maintaining the powerful output and boost/turbo functions of the previous versions, the power feeling settings and braking have been greatly improved.  Specifically, the compress, which determines throttle feel, can now be adjusted to the minus side as well, whereas before it could only be adjusted to the plus side.  In addition, the addition of a party mode allows the throttle opening range corresponding to the compressor to be limited.  In order to improve the response and strength of the brakes, powerful braking at high speeds is now possible.

Phi-Long Nguyen defends FEMCA 1:8 Offroad title

Young Kyosho star Phi-Long Nguyen has successfully defended his FEMCA 1:8 Offroad Championship title, becoming the Champion of Asia once again in Vietnam over the weekend.  The Far East Model Car Association (FEMCA), the governing body of RC racing that represents 15 nations in Asia and Australasia, on the awarding of last year’s championship made the move that a host track would have the option to run the event two years in a row to help recuperate any investment in putting on the event.  After the success of the 2024 FEMCA Championships at Huỳnh Vĩ ‘s L.A track, this year the championship attracted 115 entries.  With 6 rounds of qualifying it was 13-year-old Nguyen who secured the TQ topping four rounds with Team Associated’s Hyunkyu Jung his closest rival topping the other two qualifiers.  With both drivers winning the respective 30-minute Semi Finals, it was the Vietnamese born & now American based Nguyen who like up on pole for the 45-minute title decider.  Setting the fastest lap of the race, Nguyen took his Ielasi Tuned powered MP10 TKI3 to the win with a lap in hand over Jung, who like last year finished runner-up.   The podium was completed by the Sworkz of Thai driver Paphon C who had lined up 6th on the grid with the similar buggies of Ryan Lee and Kevin Ho with 2023 FEMCA Champion Jeff Wang’s Ming Yang rounding out the Top 6.

EWS Round 5 & Overall Championship – Report

The well-known Essex Winter Series concluded it’s 2024/25 season over the weekend at its venue in the South-East of the UK.  In the LRP Modified class, Olly Jefferies and Elliott Harper were tied on points going into the race, with Kyle Branson just two points behind, setting up a great showdown to round out the series.  In qualifying, Olly was on form, taking his factory Awesomatix to the fastest time in every round, putting a firm grip on the overall title.  Kyle Branson lined up second on the grid with his Tonisport-backed Awesomatix, with Alex Thurston taking the new Mugen MTC-3 to third.  Elliott Harper essentially saw his chances of another EWS title disappearing with a fourth place grid spot for Schumacher, and Stefan Chodzynski rounded out the top five with another Tonisport-supported Awesomatix.  In the final, Olly stamped his authority on the season with a commanding win.  Kyle took second place, about 1.5-seconds back on Olly, whilst Elliott and Alex battled hard for third. Elliott took third, whilst side-by-side racing over the last few laps allowed Bailey Graves to come through to fourth and Jack Collins take fifth. In the overall points, Olly Jefferies took the title, with Elliott finishing in the runner-up position.  Kyle was third overall with Alex fourth in the standings.  Harley Eldridge, missing this race to be at the ETS in Vienna, was fifth overall.
