Branson wins BRCA 1/8th Rd9, Wood retains title

…On Saturday, the track was wet, but started to dry very quickly in places. The main problem was that the complex section in front of race control was shaded by trees and would take longer to dry out. At around 4 pm, the track was fully dry and the grip started to emerge to allow at least 2 hours of productive setup work to be carried out. As usual, Mark Green seemed to have the quickest and most consistent car from the chasing pack of Branson, North, Diver, Hicklin, Wood and Hastings. Sunday was bright with no hint of rain….

Buerge & Hepp on top at NRW Challenge Rd2

Oberhausen, the heart of rc racing in Western Germany, held round two of the new NRW Challenge (NRW = German State North Rhine-Westphalia) under great conditions with blue sky and temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius on both days. Lots of spectators saw hot racing with 46 competitors and exciting fights but also partly over-motivated drivers and lots of flying cars. At the end Tobias Hepp and Sebastian Buerge did it again and – like at round one at Dueren – won the 45 minutes finals of the two nitro classes 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale (200mm). Thomas Guensel takes German 200mm crown

…faultless timekeeping under the lead of Alfred Roschmann, a reproachless technical inspection and not to forget a very good catering made it a race weekend to remember for all 77 competitors and all the mechanics and supporters. The racing time for all sub-finals was 15 minutes, except the semi finals were run for 30 minutes. Beginning with the 1/32 final lots of exciting fights were seen for the top three positions to climb up into the next final. The successful drivers have been Nobuhiro Kanabe, Peter Bialowens and Thomas Schlee in the 1/32 A, Thomas Koenigsberger, Torsten Mueller and Willy…

Dirk Wischnewski on pole at German Nats

…of the top ten drivers use GP tyres, hand made by Juergen Plan, each one used RPM (ATS), Xceed (Enetti), Matrix, UFRA and Enetti. Interesting is a look at the bodies: The brandnew Audi A5 (SMI) is used by five of the top ten drivers, three us the PF Stratus and two the Blitz Altis 2.3 A little unusual some racers are driving her cars with a one way front axle, among the top ten Eric Dankel and Joerg Baldes didn´t use the regular front differential. Wischnewski, Guensel & Kroeber top timesheets at German Nats

…with 39,324 seconds in front of Guensel with 39,691 and Kroeber with 39,915: Fourth position went to Michael Salven with 40,002 seconds for three laps with his Serpent 733. Behind Ralf Krause (Xray/40,008), René Puepke ( 40,128) was the quickest Mugen racer on sixth position. The top 10 were completed by Eric Dankel (Xray), Kai-Oliver Guttschau (Serpent), Karl-Heinz Meister (Serpent) and Christian Wimbverger (Xray). Patrick Schaefer, a non-regular driver in 1/10, achieved 15th position with his new Shepherd Velox V10.
