Entries are now being accepted for what is quickly becoming one of the hottest nitro races of the year, the 2009 Horizon Shootout. This all 1/8 scale event will be held on the weekend of September 25-27th at one of the Midwest’s premier facilities, J-Tec Racing & Fun in Tilton IL. Many of the Nations top drivers will be in attendance including 2008 Shootout Champions Adam Drake, Billy Fischer and electric ace Dakotah Phend. It will be a tough task for these drivers to repeat in 2009 as the list of challengers is sure to grow in numbers and skill….

…together with the Masters being scoring series points separate from the open guys. In the 1/8th final, pole sitter Josh Cyrul (Shepherd) led with Paul Ciccarello following closely behind. When the chequered flag fell, Josh won by 4 seconds over Paul with Brian Berry completed the top three. Eli Ezrow (Shepherd) grabbed 5th overall in 1/8th open but was the highest Masters racer and took the Masters win at the first event of the season. We’ve written about the new Photon TC from TOP Racing before in depth, when we showed you the first CAD images of the car as well as the first photos of the car, and now we have the first photos of the final production car. The Josh Cyrul penned chassis has plenty of nice features, including super low centre of gravity, a system for balancing and weighting the car when using LiPo packs and diff pulleys that utilize 3-point triangular diff ball slots. The T2R Pro is the third incarnation of Xray’s successful Raycer series of budget touring cars. It’s based on the T2 ‘008/’009 platform and combines their racing pedigree with less expensive materials like glass fibre and aluminium to form what the Slovakian company think is the ultimate budget ra(y)cer. …caster between and 10.5 degrees. New parts with the 12x are the updated steering knuckles that allow for the use of smaller tyres. They are equipped with new off-set wheel axles. Another new part is the FRP brace that can be used optional to stiff up the front end for a more precise steering feel especially on high traction surfaces. Ride height is adjustable via four shims underneath the lower wishbones.
