VRC Column – Non-Stop Racing Frenzy

Wurst and Buerge win at NRW Challenge Rd3

…In 1/8 scale it was once again Tobias Hepp clinching pole position with 20 laps in 5.08,182 minutes. The Serpent youngster was followed by the two Motonica P81’s of Christian Wurst and Uwe Baldes, fourth position went to Serpent racer Ralf Vahrenkamp. In the two 30 minutes semi finals Frank Schewiola at his Mugen “test race”, Emil Kostadinov (Mugen), Andreas Goebel (Serpent), Christian Willert (Serpent), Ingo Odenthal (Serpent) and Sebastian Scheidweiler (Serpent) were able to jump up into the final. Like at round one in Dueren and round two at Oberhausen the final race was run for long 45 minutes…

Xray Column – Time to Move on

Ryan Maifield wins 2wd Mod at AZ State Champs

Every year drivers converge at SRS Raceway to crown the Arizona State Champion and always draws heavy interest from the top Arizona drivers and surrounding states. For the 2nd year in a row the JConcepts with their Bar Codes took home the win in the 2wd modified class with ace driver Ryan Maifield behind the wheel. The dry, black groove conditions provided the ultimate test of durability and performance and he was able to win from Associated team mate Brent Thielke in 2nd and Losi racer Mike Friery in 3rd. Branson wins BRCA 1/8th Rd9, Wood retains title

…On Saturday, the track was wet, but started to dry very quickly in places. The main problem was that the complex section in front of race control was shaded by trees and would take longer to dry out. At around 4 pm, the track was fully dry and the grip started to emerge to allow at least 2 hours of productive setup work to be carried out. As usual, Mark Green seemed to have the quickest and most consistent car from the chasing pack of Branson, North, Diver, Hicklin, Wood and Hastings. Sunday was bright with no hint of rain….

Mike Truhe spotted testing new Powerplant

…the Team Orion driver normally uses, for starters sporting a black cooling head in place of the familiar red unit. The test was part of Mike’s preparations for this week’s Nitrocross race in Arizona where our source believes he will debut the new engine. Having lost their previous GRP engine tie up, when the Italian company ceased production earlier this year, this new motor could be the result of a bigger plan by US company Horizon Hobby, who own Losi, to once again link up with a major competition engine manufacturer. The Team Durango history

Further to our review of the new Team Durango DEX410 buggy we brought to you last week, here’s an insight into the history of one of the most innovative electric buggies to date.
