Mark Green wins BRCA 1/8th Rd8

Round 8 of the BRCA championship was held at the Mendip circuit for the second time this season. With Bristol airport being a small drive away and due to the completion of the Irish season, a small contingent from Ireland arrived, including the vastly experienced Clive Connelly (Mugen) and Ian Campbell (Shepherd). The entry of 48 drivers was one of the highest all season and with the addition of some old faces, the future is starting to look brighter for this section. The weather forecast for the weekend was bright which would allow a lot of testing to be carried…

Buerge & Hepp on top at NRW Challenge Rd2

Oberhausen, the heart of rc racing in Western Germany, held round two of the new NRW Challenge (NRW = German State North Rhine-Westphalia) under great conditions with blue sky and temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius on both days. Lots of spectators saw hot racing with 46 competitors and exciting fights but also partly over-motivated drivers and lots of flying cars. At the end Tobias Hepp and Sebastian Buerge did it again and – like at round one at Dueren – won the 45 minutes finals of the two nitro classes 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale (200mm). Serpent youngster Tobias Hepp…

Vorsprung durch Technik – Durango DEX410

…makes for more ground clearance while landing jumps and is protected by a finned plastic skid plate. The fins are meant to stabilize the rear of the car while landing as they tend to dig into the ground. Sounds a bit weird but it actually works as we found out in the later test. The plastic plate is interchangeable with an optional brass weight in case you like to run the lighter LiPo packs! The brass weight comes with additional side weights that attach to the carbon U-brace. Again, very trick! Like the front wishbones the sturdy rear wishbones are…

Orcan Audi A5 body developed by Dirk Wischnewski

The Audi A5 body for the 1/10 scale 200mm nitro class has made an impressive racing entry when all ten finalists at the recently held German Nationals at Tuerkheim have been using this new body shell. For the first time the Audi body was seen during practice of the season opener of the Western German Championship early April at Oberhausen when Xray/Orcan team drivers Dirk Wischnewski and Freddy Suedhoff conducted mayor tests with one of the first prototypes. During the development a total of ten different prototype bodies have been tested. “Our main goal was to develop a body which…

Dirk Wischnewski on pole at German Nats

…of the top ten drivers use GP tyres, hand made by Juergen Plan, each one used RPM (ATS), Xceed (Enetti), Matrix, UFRA and Enetti. Interesting is a look at the bodies: The brandnew Audi A5 (SMI) is used by five of the top ten drivers, three us the PF Stratus and two the Blitz Altis 2.3 A little unusual some racers are driving her cars with a one way front axle, among the top ten Eric Dankel and Joerg Baldes didn´t use the regular front differential. The results can be found and the final Sunday can be followed at www.myrcm.ch….

Xray Column – Title Celebration

34th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about both the European Championships for 1/8th buggy in Austria and for 1/10th 200mm in Italy, the former seeing the team take the title. We did it!” was the thought that screamed through my mind on the last Sunday of July, a fraction of a second after the finish of the 1/10 Nitro touring European Championship and after the first 6 cars passed over the finish line… all of them XRAY NT1 cars! Finally, the long and…
