Kocher to race for Hong Nor GT team in 2024

1:8 GT World Champion manufacturer Hong Nor has announced the signing of Swiss racer Michael Kocher for its 2024 line-up. Kocher is best known for his collaboration with Italian designer Andrea Contarini in bringing the Raptor 1:8 GT chassis to market and in particular for racing the non production nitro version of the car at the 1:8 GT World Championships in Australia this year. Now joining the Taiwanese brand, Kocher said, “I am very happy to join the Hong Nor family and factory Team for upcoming season. I started 4 years ago in GT8 Nitro Racing. I had the chance to cooperate with an Italian designer and produced my own racing car brand – Raptor Racing. After 3 years of building cars for customers, I didn’t spent much time on the track. I think it’s time to start a new journey. During the Worlds held in Australia this year, I had the chance to test with different cars. Among all the cars I’ve tested, I had the best experience with Hong Nor’s X3GTS 2023 World Edition, fast and easy to drive. After a really nice meet with Hong Nor’s two bosses – Tony Chen and Hsiang Lin, it was clear to me to go forward with this great brand. Hope the winter season pass soon, and I could be back on the track with the car. See you on the track.”

Team Associated RC8B4e Weight Bias Chassis

Developed during 2023 as their drivers wanted the option to shift weight rearward on lower grip ungroomed tracks, Team Associated has released the FWB/RWB Weight Bias Chassis for its RC8B4e 1:8 eBuggy. Racers can tune the RC8B4e’s weight bias using two motor and centre differential positions with the FWB/RWB chassis and adapter. Forward is the original location for maximum steering, and the rearward location gives more rear grip and lightens the front end for low grip or bumpy conditions. Customers will need chassis and the FWB/RWB Adapter with 96.5mm Dogbone Set to update their RC8B4e to the new chassis system. The #81581 104mm centre dogbone from the original kit is used with the new parts. The replacement 96.5mm centre dogbone set is sold separately for spare parts (it’s included in #81645). Also notable, the new chassis design installs the drivetrain in the reverse orientation from the original kit, and this provides a positive torque reaction that will aid in rear grip on power.

Avid ‘In Betweens’ Silicone Oils

Avid Racing Concepts has added to their popular Silicone Oil Line with the highly requested “In Betweens”. Adding 375, 425, 475, 525, 575, 625, 1K & 9K CST to the range, their silicone shock and diff oils are certified and laboratory tested by Ultimate Racing using the linear viscosity measurement of centistokes (CST). Each 75ml sized shock oil bottle is printed with the conversion of CST to both the AE and the TLR weight system.

Team Associated RC8B4.1 Team Kit

New from reigning back to back 1:8 Nitro Buggy World Champion manufacturer Team Associated is the next evolution of the 2022 IFMAR World Champion-winning chassis, the RC8B4.1 Team Kit. Team Associated engineers sought to lower the CG, reduce weight, and improve handling on un-groomed outdoor tracks. As a result, the new RC8B4.1 RWB chassis design has a stiffer tapered profile for predictable high-speed handling, allowing for a softer overall shock package. The suspension is overhauled with new front and rear low-CG shock towers and shorter shocks, along with new 3-hole rear suspension arms that allow for softer shocks and springs while still maintaining support in the fast turns. The new wide base rear hubs come in three fixed axle heights and use 3mm carbon fibre hub towers to allow several different geometry options. Lastly, the buggy comes with 92mm universal joints, 44/13 bevel gears, and a 47T spur gear for the most grip and smoothest power delivery on un-groomed outdoor tracks.

JConcepts Stage Killah competition crawler body

JConcepts has updated and recreated one of the classics in the line-up by re-introducing the Stage Killah 1:10 competition crawler body. The sharply tuned shell wraps the chassis of competition trucks like the Axial SCX Pro and other competition crawlers like a glove. The low-slung shell, with gentle shaping provides a front and rear tucked concept with cab and bed area for the truck minded competitor. The body has large format recessed windows front, side, and a small extra cab viewing area. The outer geometry of the body is lined with a flange to improve the durability of the flat panel areas of the item. The bed area of the body has smoothly rolled corners, small recess for included fan decals to drop in and a JC logo bossed on the centre for authenticity. The front hood scoop is a small step offset of the pitched front-end to give definition to the design. Crawling drivers will enjoy the narrow footprint and the ability to user tune, trim, and bend polycarbonate panels to further enhance characteristics which provide for clearance, are an added benefit. The grille area is unique, featuring 3 recessed sections replicating positioning for lights, and the included decal to cover the section provides a sinister look.

Yokomo hand carry car bag

Yokomo has produced a new hand-carry bag featuring the Yokomo Racing Factory logo for transporting your RC car to the race track. The bag is large enough to hold not only touring cars and drift cars, but also wide offroad cars. The bag is also equipped with a belt to easily hold the machine for safe transportation. The nylon material is stain-resistant, and cushioned rubber is added to the inner lining to prevent it from losing its shape, enhancing a sense of security. There is enough room for an offroad car, so tyres, spare body, parts case, etc. can be all in one bag. ProTek RC Ultra LCG Shorty Lipo

ProTek RC has announced the release of its newest addition to the PTK battery line, the ULCG (Ultra Low Center of Gravity) 2S 130C Graphene + HV 4400mAh Shorty LiPo. The pack features an ultra-low centre of gravity at just 18.3mm in height with a weight of only 154 grams making it the thinnest and lightest pack they have produced to date. When compared to standard LiPo and LiHV, Silicon Graphene cells deliver improved efficiency, lower operating temperatures, lower internal resistance, better run time, increased cycle life and increased voltage. The ROAR approved pack is ideal pack for 2WD and 4WD modified racing, or stock class racers that want optimum voltage for the entire run.
