oOple finally have their report online from the 2nd round of the BRCA 1/10th off road national series, held at the all-grass Oswestry track in the midlands, UK. Round one of the series saw some new faces take wins but it was like a trip back in time at Oswestry as both reigning national champions took wins in their respective classes. …call all of the racing action. Classes for 2009 Shootout include 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 1/8 Nitro Truggy, and new for 2009, the addition of an 1/8 Electric Buggy class. The Schedule will see Friday as an open practice day with the first of 3 rounds of qualifying starting at 10am on Saturday morning. Sunday will be reserved for mains only in an effort to get everyone on the road and home at a decent time. Entries will be limited to 200 and are expected to fill up fast. Team Epic have released the I-Gauss, a simple to use tool to test the strength of your rotor. Brushless motors go bad when the rotor loses its magnetic strength due to the demagnetizing effects of the stator while the motor is under power. When the rotor loses its magnetic field your motor will lose bottom end, run hotter and possibly burn up the stator windings. Serpent have announced that top international electric racer Jilles Groskamp from the Netherlands, has made an agreement to test and race the company’s gas powered cars. Not a stranger to gas racing, the Tamiya Factory driver TQd last years 1/10th scale 200mm World Championships in Portugal and has competed at numerous other gas events, most recently the Dutch EFRA GP where he was a direct qualifier for the main final. Serpent confirmed that they have a new 1:10 nitro touring car on the way and have released some information about the successor of their 720. On Wednesday professional Dutch driver Jilles Groskamp tested the car which is currently being referred to as the 7XX at the MACH track in the Netherlands. Also on hand for the test was the car’s chief designer Michael Salven, who we understand recently tested the car himself in Asia. Our friends in Italy sent us the announcement for a race that they are running in June, on the 6th – 7th, in aid of the victims of the recent Abruzzo earthquake. The race takes place in Gubbio and is open to both 1/8th scale and 1/10th scale gas classes and all proceeds from the event will go to the Italian Red Cross. Its for a good cause, so if you wish to test on the host track of this year’s European Championships for 1/10th 200mm and you missed out on last weekend’s GP then you may as well go…
