JConcepts ‘Racer’ & ‘Nation’ BIGFOOT bodies

JConcepts continues its release of new officially licensed bodies for the iconic BIGFOOT monster truck with the addition of the ‘Racer’ and the ‘Nation’.  One of the more famous schemes produced in the early 2000’s is BIGFOOT Nation, and it featured a radical departure in design from those in the past. The all-one-color design appeared in many shows around the country and always performed well in front of spectators. The key part of the design, less is more, a simple colour palette combined with decals give fans a BIGFOOT that would thrive in popular motorcycle culture.  With BIGFOOT Racer, most fans recognise the Racer Stripe scheme as the moment BIGFOOT upped the ante in design, safety, and competition handling. The addition of the yellow and red stripes said it all back in 1990, and it seems, every incarnation of The Original Monster Truck is compared to the Racer Stripe. During the 2015 racing season, top driver Dan Runte was topped off with the Racer scheme for one of the largest events of the year at Charlotte Motor Speedway at the Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash.

EssexCarpetClash5 Round1 – Report

EssexCarpetClash returned the first weekend of October for their fifth year championship in the southern region of England. This year, there were a couple of changes compared to previous years, the main being a limit to the number of rear sets of tyres used for the day. A maximum of 2 sets, but the second set (if you chose to use them) could only be used in the finals. Eleven car heats and finals were the other addition, but this was accompanied by a larger track and in turn a longer lap time giving everyone space on the track. As in the past, it was the best 2 qualifying runs from 4 (round by round qualifying) to count for the final grid positions. Ed Kerry, (now running a Serpent) edged the pole position slot from Harley Eldridge (Xray) who were both joint on points, only separated on countback by less than 2 tenths of a second. 3rd on the grid would be last year’s champion Klye Moon (Willspeed).

Hobby Action awarded 2023 1:10 Offroad World Championship

Hobby Action RC Raceway has been awarded the 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championship, the Arizona indoor track having been selected by host bloc ROAR from a strong list of candidate tracks across the United States.  Officially made public via a Facebook Live post by Hobby Action’s Larry Tom and Jake Thayer, the announcement the track will host the 19th running of the World Championship is significant.  A track best known for the annual Desert Classic and Kinwald BKlassic races, the state of Arizona is the home of 2015 & 2019 2WD World Champion Spencer Rivkin, both his titles won on indoor tracks,  and to 2017 double champion Ryan Maifield for whom Hobby Action RC Raceway is his ‘home’ track.  With the United States having had the honour of hosting the inaugural 1:10 Offroad World Championships back in 1985, this will be the 6th time the nation has hosted the IFMAR event.  On four of those occasions it was home drivers who took the win in either 2WD or 4WD.  While no date has yet been officially set,  Tom said in the announcement that he expects it will most likely take place in the month of September.

Kyosho representing RC at Japanese F1 Grand Prix

With Formula 1 in Suzuka this week for the Japanese Grand Prix it is nice to see iconic Japanese RC brand Kyosho making the most of the opportunity to represent our sport as they hang out with the Alpine F1 team.  Legend of 1:8 Offroad both as a driver and as Kyosho’s MP Buggy designer, Yuichi Kanai has been showing off the latest MP10 finished in Alpine colour scheme to F1 great Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.  Bringing along a second car in his own trademark green colour scheme, Kanai brought the sound & smell of nitro to the paddock as himself and Orcon drove both cars.  Having got his hands on Orcon’s #31 Alpine A522 steering wheel, apparently Kanai is waiting patiently for the team to offer him his first Formula 1 driving experience!!
