Borneo 1:8 Buggy Championship Round 1 – Report

Having returned last year after Covid as a single event, the 2025 Borneo 1:8 Buggy Championship expands to two rounds with the opening race taking place at the Tungkaran RC Track on the third-largest island in the world.  Located in Martapura, in the southern part of the island, the race attracted 37-racers, up on last year, including top Indonesian racers John Agus and Ray Timothy.  The new track layout got a lot of praise from competitors.  In Nitro Buggy it would be Timothy who took the win leading a Kyosho 1-2 from Agus with last year’s Borneo Champion Arya BM completing the podium for Mugen Seiki.  In eBuggy, it was Arya who took the win ahead of the Tekno of M. Serpent Medius X25

Serpent has released its latest 1:10 Elerctric Touring Car, the Medius x25.  The successor to their X20 ’24, Dominic Greiner, has played a major role in the improvements with the new car which will be offered in a Carbon and Steel version kit.  Serpent claim they have enhanced the flex characteristics, optimised the geometry, improved the shock geometry, lowered the centre of gravity, and increased reliability.  The new chassis are again symmetric, but Serpent has changed their flex philosophy and developed a different shape that greatly improves the car’s handling.  The 1.2mm steel chassis features a PVD coating, which significantly reduces wear due to its exceptional hardness. An optional aluminium chassis is also available.  The driveshafts now feature 2 type of joint-crosses to deliver super smooth transmission.  The split top deck philosophy has been maintained for the X25, but the range has shifted towards a softer feel. This change has led to improved performance with the new chassis shape.  Their split shock tower design has been modified for better integration with the upper arm mounts. As a result, it is now significantly more durable and reliable, while also being lighter.  The design still features incremental adjustment options.  The Lower Arm design from the X20’24 with various carbon inserts has been retained, but the shock pickup position has been adjusted for improved shock geometry.  Another improvement on the X25 are the linkages with the new construction more precise and allowing for easier adjustment of the tweak.  The car also gets new 13mm big bore linear shock absorber.

Factory Team RC8T4 +4mm Wheel Hexes

New from Team Associated’s optional parts brand Factory Team are these +4mm Wheel hexes for the RC8T4 1:8 Truggy.  The new hexes let racers narrow the trackwidth 3mm per side (6mm total) from the kit RC8T4 hex adapters.  The AE team found the +4 hex to be an advantage on the truggy rear for low traction with Richard Saxton using these parts in prototype form to win the 40+ Nitro Truggy Class at the 2024 Silver State Nitro Challenge in Las Vegas.  In addition, the new hex pair comes with two of the new 17mm Grooved Wheel Hex Pins.  These 17mm pins add extra security to the hex design and fit both buggy and truggy 17mm hex adapters.
