Robert Pietsch wins trofeo Novarossi

The Trofeo Novarossi took place last weekend at the famous Fiorano track in Italy. The weather forecast was more than good with around 30° sunshine the whole weekend and around 70 drivers attended the race, which was perfectly organized by Minicar Fiorano Team. Victory in the 1/8th scale class went to Robert Pietsch, who was running the all new self designed MRX5 car from Mugen, with second place going to Mugen team mates Christian Cavicchioli and Eric Dankel in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In the 1:10th class it was Walter Ossola that won followed by Vidotto Roberto in 2nd and Massimiliano Vadese in 3rd.

After some final tests during last week in England and this week in Italy they are now ready to give the racers this high quality and performance package. Several months production sampling and testing with their new machinery looks like it is showing up on the track, with great lap times. Martin Bayer does double at 1/5th Euros Warm-up

The warm-up race for the 2010 1/5 Scale Formula one and Touring car European championship took place at Slavkov, Brno in the Czech Republic last weekend and it attracted all the big name drivers in these categories. The race in the formula one category was to be a one man show with 1/8th scale buggy ace Martin Bayer driving the RS5 winning the race by 5 laps ahead of team mates Jeffrey van Wijk and Clark Wohlert in 2nd and 3rd. In the touring car category it was also a win for RS5 driver Martin Bayer with a superb drive, followed by former European Champion Mathieu Briere with the FG, with 9 tenths of a second gap on third place finisher Cedric Prevot also with FG.

Sabrina Lechner joins GQ Products

GQ Products have confirmed that top female racer Sabrina Lechner will run their tires in both the 1/8th and 1/10th classes this season. The Hong Kong based company has already achieved success with this new partnership with Sabrina using their tires to achieve 8th place at the European B Championships in Monaco recently. Very happy with the quality of their products Sabrina is looking forward to continue to use them throughout the season, which will include the EFRA GP in Hiddelsheim and the German Nationals later in the year.

Spec-R TRF416 front solid axle

Spec-R have released this new lightweight front solid axle for the Tamiya 416WE/416X. The solid axle is made from aluminium while the out-drive is made from long lasting hard nylon. The full set weighs in at only 8.6 grams, which is a 19% saving in weight. Spec-R tell us that we should expect a version for the Yokomo BD5 soon.

Erik Demuth wins Rd1 of the Brazilian 1/5th Nats

The first round of this year’s Brazilian 1/5th scale National championship was held at the Clube Conesul in Portão Rio Grande do Sul Brasil. The track was very cold on the Saturday morning and the times slow, but after some qualifying rounds the lap times came down with Erik Demuth with his FG/Abbate Racing car made the best time on the track followed by Renato Brentato, Rui Vlademir and Stener completing the top 4 qualifiers to the final. The Main final scheduled to begin at 15:00 hours saw turmoil after problems with race timing saw the start of race being canceled. At the second start, Erik Demuth kept the lead until the finish. Renato Brentano who started second dropped down the order after a first corner crash but recovered to finish in second place. The third place went to Stener who was running his new car for the first time in this race and has already achieved great results. Young 8 year old racer Nicolas Lucae finished the race in an impressive 5th place showing that he will be one of the strong names for the future in Brazil.

Christensen & Fransson wins Nordic Champs in Gothenburg

The Nordic Championship in the IC-Track classes took place in Gothenburg last weekend, also used as the Euros warm up race for the 1/10th scale class. 65 drivers attended the race, 45 in the 1:10th IC-200 and 20 racers in the 1:8 IC Track. In the entry list were several big names listed, including the current European Champion Dirk Wischnewski. With perfect weather conditions and good traction on the asphalt, the race begun on Saturday morning. In the 1:10th class, Dirk set the TQ-pace from the first round, who together with Hagberg, were the only drivers to complete 28 laps in the qualification.
