Gruber adds German 1:10 Nitro National title

Toni Gruber added the German 1:10 Nitro Onroad title to his 2023 over the weekend, the Capricorn driver making it the perfect season with two titles from the two outings he has had in the class this year having already won the European Championship in June.   Racing at the MiniCarClub Rötz track, Gruber secured the TQ ahead of Melvin Diekmann with the fastest 4-minute run in qualifying which was 3.3-second faster than his team-mates best effort.  In the 45-minute final, Gruber continued that form setting the fastest lap en route to a 9-second victory over Diekmann with Michael Heinrich completing the podium.

Orlowski dominates ETS Andernach

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski put in a dominant performance to take the win at the third round of the Euro Touring Series in Andernach, Germany.  Winner of the season opener in the Netherlands but absent from Round 2 in Austria due to offroad commitments at the 1:10 European Championships, the Polish driver returned to onroad and picked up where he left off.  In qualifying he totally dominated topping all 4 rounds at Arena33 to secure the TQ ahead of the Mugen of Ronald Volker and Awesomatix of Round 2 winner Marc Rheinard.  In the finals Orlowski’s form continued and in A2 he secured his third ETS career win.  Winning A3, Volker would secure second overall with Rheinard completing the podium ahead of Eric Dankel.  In Pro stock it was also a win for the Top Qualifier with Lukas Ellerbrock taking victory over Olivier Bultynck and Round 2 winner Adam Iszay.

Canas leads Sworks 1-2 at European Championship

Juan Carlos Canas has finally achieved a major championship title with the rapid Spaniard leading an Sworkz 1-2 at the EFRA 1:8 Offroad European Championship in Redovan, Spain.  In qualifying, Canas was Top Qualifier topping 3 of the 5 rounds at the 2022 World Championship venue.  Reigning World Champion Davide Ongaro was P2 with the fastest time in Q2 with Bruno Coelho P3 having set the quickest time in the opening qualifier.  With Saturday originally scheduled as Finals day, the threat of heavy rain prompted a change of schedule to get the event completed by Friday night.  In the Semi Finals Canas took the first 20-minute encounter from Bryan Baldo while a retirement exited Coelho from proceedings.  In the other Semi, Ongaro took the win from Burak Kilic and Elliot Boots, but a slower race time it was Canas on pole for the final with defending champion David Ronnefalk lining up 6th.  Racing into the night and finishing under the flood lights Canas dominated the 45-minutes adding the fastest lap to his tally on the way to victory by half a lap from his 2-time European Champion team-mate Elliot Boots.  Ongaro’s Team Associated would complete the podium 4-second ahead of Mugen’s Burak Kilic with a similar gap back to Infinity’s Riccardo Berton in fifth.  Ronnefalk’s year long reign as Champion would end in a retirement with 5-minutes remaining.

SMJ Glowplug Magnifiers

New from SMJ are these two Glow Plug Magnifiers for checking the condition of the glow plug filament.  With an LED light source, the filament is clearly visible through the magnifier with two types of dedicated housings offered with different focal lengths.

ARC R8.4E 1:8 Electric Onroad Car

ARC has announced their latest 1:8 Electric Onroad Racing car, the R8.4E.  The R8.4E will be available in 2 different configurations- the R8.4EL and R8.4ES.  While both cars feature specially designed 5mm carbon chassis for electric racing, the key difference is in their transmission and battery layout.  The R8.4EL is designed to run either standard or shorty LiPo batteries, while the R8.4ES is designed to run exclusively with shorty LiPo batteries.  For added tune ability, theR8.4E features adjustable front and rear suspension arm lengths and roll centre via changing the pivot pin inserts.  Racers can choose from 3 different front low and upper arms length.  The rear low arm roll centre can settle in middle or low and rear upper arm lengths also can be adjusted.  The default setup places the front lower arms in the centre – with a longer front low arm can generating more traction while a shorter arm delivers better steering response.

MR33, the brand of multiple World Champion & current Awesomatix factory driver Marc Rheinard, has released new Diff and Spool Pulleys for the A800 touring car.  Available in both plastic and aluminium options, the premium CNC machined, hard coated aluminium spool pulley fits the A800R, A800MMX, and A800FX (and Evo) models.  The gear has perfect concentricity, is very light and extremely durable is recommend it for all stock classes and also for modified racing.  The gear including the aluminium ring and screws weighs 6.5g, making it 2.5g heavier than the original plastic part from Awesomatix.  The aluminium differential gear has perfect concentricity and extremely durable. Lee, Nicolson, Moore & Saligupta for FEMCA C/ship

After an absence from the calendar due to Covid, the return of the FEMCA 1:10 Electric Touring Car Championship in 2023 has already attracted a number of Asia’s leading drivers with Nicolas Lee, Simon Nicolson, Andy Moore and Chavit Saligupta confirmed as early entries for the November 23-26th event.  With Europe having the EFRA European Championships and North America having the ROAR Nationals, the FEMCA Championships are Asia’s biggest prize with Huge RC in Bangkok, Thailand, the host track of the ISTC competition this year.  The unique indoor asphalt track is run by former ISTC World Champion Surikarn Chaidajsuriya and is a previous World Championship host when it was the venue for the 2014 1:10 Nitro Touring Car World Championship.  With both the Modified and 13.5T restricted to a maximum of 30 drivers each, Yokomo will be counting on World Championship Finalist Lee and multiple Australian Champion Nicolson for success in Mod while former World Champion Moore and 2023 TITC finalist Saligupta lead the challenge from Infinity.  Already drivers from Australia, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand have registered for the four day championship which will be run on a Sweep Racing ‘FEMCA 2023’ spec tyre.
