Buerge & Hepp on top at NRW Challenge Rd2

Oberhausen, the heart of rc racing in Western Germany, held round two of the new NRW Challenge (NRW = German State North Rhine-Westphalia) under great conditions with blue sky and temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius on both days. Lots of spectators saw hot racing with 46 competitors and exciting fights but also partly over-motivated drivers and lots of flying cars. At the end Tobias Hepp and Sebastian Buerge did it again and – like at round one at Dueren – won the 45 minutes finals of the two nitro classes 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale (200mm).

Takaaki Shimo wins Japanese 1/8th Nationals

The JMRCA Japanese 1/8th scale on road National Championships were held this weekend at the KeiTune Racing Speedway. Only 44 drivers took part in this race, but the field consisted of World Champions and World Finalists, so the competition in the race would be tough. Qualifying went the way of multiple Champion Takaaki Shimo driving for Kyosho, with Serpent team driver Yuya Sahashi in 2nd, Keisuke Fukuda in 3rd for Mugen and Satoshi Takayasu taking 4th with his Motonica. The final saw a very close battle up front with pole man Shimo holding off some close attention from Fukuda, to win by less than 4 tenths of a second, with Ken Kogawa taking the final podium spot in 3rd, a lap further back.

Andy Lam wins Chinese Mini TC Open race

Atomic RC are reporting on the 2009 Chinese Open race for 4WD mini touring cars that was held recent in Zhong Shan. Andy Lam took the pole position following qualifying and carried through that speed to the final by taking the win, driving the Atomic VM-II. The runner up spot when to Hong Kong driver Derek Hung, while the final podium spot went to China’s Wong Hoi Fung.

The new linear guide system has replaced the traditional tire truer track by using the stainless track rail, which allows you to move the truer easily with one hand. Polish Nitro On-road Championships

The final round of Polish Nitro On-road Championships was held last weekend in Pacanow with all titles still up for grabs. The event attracted the majority of best Polish racers from both nitro and electric classes despite it being wet and rainy throughout the whole weekend. After 4 rounds of qualifying it was Artur Dzierzecki who took the TQ with his Serpent 733 in 1/10th scale, while in National 1/10th Start class Jakub Franek, two times champion in electric classes who has swapped this year for nitro, came out on top. In 1/8th scale, excellent driver and multiple Champion Rafal Zeljas took pole position after 4 amazing qualifying heats. The fastest driver in National IC-8 40+ was Wojtek Bukryj.

 Hudy Star-Box On-Road 1/10 & 1/8 starter box

Hudy have released the Star-Box, a unique starter box designed for 1/10 & 1/8 nitro on-road cars. Claiming to be the world’s lowest, this ultra-compact starter box design is very lightweight, only 575g / 1.27lb (w/o batteries). A uniquely designed support bracket recesses into the starter box to allow the starting wheel to be fully engaged, while adjustable backstops allow you to fit 1/10 and 1/8 on-road cars. The Star-Box has an ultra-cool stylish design and comes fully assembled, ready to use. The long-life drive belt system runs off a powerful 775-type motor (with fan) which is powered by two standard-size 7.2V battery stick packs (not included). The CNC-machined aluminum housing has a high-quality black-coating for extra durability and countersunk housing screws are recessed into the surface to eliminate unwanted protrusions. An integrated switch for comfortable on/off switching is attached to the wiring harness with extra-thick cables and quick-change fast-on connectors meaning no soldering is required. The quick-change starter wheel system was designed to allow for fast & simple replacement of the starter wheel using only 3 screws and finally an integrated composite handle with ergonomic back cover allows for comfortable carrying.

Kyosho World Cup Super Final 2009

Last weekend, one of the major highlights of the racing season took place in Slavkov/Czech Rep., close to the Austrian Border. The Kyosho World Cup Final is one of the most exciting and toughest brand trophy event throughout the year in manufacturers cup racing. Now in its 13th year it is the second time after 6 years that the event takes place in Slavkov. After days of rain all teams arrived to perfect weather conditions with am almost dry race track which has been fully refurbished with a new super smooth tarmac on the Auto Bayer Arena. The race track is very exciting to drive and is also the home track of the popular Czech driver Martin Bayer.
