Hirosaka takes Japanese National title

The Japanese Electric touring car Nationals were held this weekend, once more at the Yatabe Arena indoor tarmac track. Qualifying for the expert class saw the pole position go to Yokomo racer Masami Hirosaka, ahead of current 2wd World Champion Hayato Matsuzaki in 2nd and recently crowned 1/8th buggy World Champion Atsushi Hara in 3rd. In the finals Masami had the perfect run, winning the first 2 finals to claim the title and sat out the 3rd, which was won by by Matsuzaki which when combined with his 2nd place in leg 2 was enough to give him the runner up spot for Hot Bodies ahead of his team mate Hara who took 3rd.

Hot Bodies have released this new factory touring car ride height gauge. Made from anodized black aluminium and featuring the HB logo engraved on the side, the gauge can measure from 0.5mm to 10mm, in 0.5mm increments.

More new lightweight parts from Slovakian company Xray this time with the release of Super-lightweight alu drive shafts for their T2 Touring Car.  Available in 50mm and 52mm sizes the shafts are CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 and hardcoated for extra durability and stylish looks. The new design is up to 40% lighter than steel drive shaft and is recommended for use in the rear drivetrain. Precision-machined with highest tolerances using premium fully-automatic German CNC-machines the high-quality hardcoating is done at XRAY’s own inhouse fully-robotic hardcoating line.

Gilioli is Italian Classic Champion

2008 Italian Classic 2WD National Championship

With popularity in 1:8 Classic on the up we bring you news of the 2008 Italian Classic 2WD National Championship which was held recently at Riccione where Motonica driver Nicolas Gilioli claimed the title.  Driving his Novarossi powered P8 Classic, Gilioli, who qualified third for the 45 minute final, won by 3 laps from the Mantua Intrepid of Massimo Poldi with Top Qualifier Alessandro Pala completing the podium with his Max powered Motonica a further lap adrift.

Xray have released a new optional lightweight 2-speed layshaft for their NT1. Precision ground, heat-treated and polished for smooth operation, extra strength and long life, it has been strategically lightened by 50% compared to the standard 2-speed layshaft. Filipe Costa is Portuguese National Champion

The final round of the Portuguese 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals were run last weekend at the large Coimbra in the centre of the country. Only 37 drivers turned up for this race and it was Mugen racer Bruno Coelho that took the pole position from fellow title contender Filipe Costa racing an Xray. In the race Filipe held back just to secure the title and finished 3rd behind the battling pair of Jose Pequito and Bruno Coelho, who finished in that order. The result gave Costa the National title ahead of Coelho and Pequito in the standings.

Heinsbroek wins, Christiaanse takes title

The final race of the Dutch nationals were held on the huge track of M.A.C. Rucphen last weekend. This time the event was only for the stock division because of a delivery failure at the beginning from the season that caused the cancellation of the round for the stock guys. The race only saw 25 competitors take part and after qualifying it was Serpent driver Ronald Arts that took the TQ spot in front of Vasco Christiaanse in 2nd and Corally driver Mario Teakema in 3rd.

Stephen Hill wins round 2 of ITCS

Ireland’s 190mm EP Touring Car National Championship made a very welcome return to the large St.Annes track, located on the outskirts of the Irish capital of Dublin, where Stephen Hill took a surprise victory in the sunny conditions from Graham Kenny and Keith Dempsey. In qualifying for the second round of the Garmin/Sqeez backed Irish Touring Car Series it was Round 1 winner Alan Bickerstaff who set the pace. The Team Associated driver was the only one of the 25 strong entry to record 17 laps taking TQ ahead of Hill with brothers Graham and Scott Kenny securing row two on the grid.
