Branson retains British title with Halifax win

Xray’s Kyle Branson has successfully defended his British Electric Touring Car Championship title with victory in tricky conditions at the third round in Halifax.  Kicking off his title defence with victory the opening round of 5 in May, Branson made it three in a row although this time he would not start from the TQ.   Some mistakes in qualifying meant he lined up P2 behind Xray team-mate Harley Eldridge.  In the finals however Branson would win A1 and 2 to wrap up the overall win ahead of Yokomo’s Alex Thurston and Schumacher’s Zak Smith, the result putting the title beyond reach of Branson’s rivals.   The newly crowned back to back BRCA Champion will travel to the Cotswold track for the penultimate round next month.

Team Saxo GT-300W-V4 1:12 chassis

Team Saxo has announced details of the latest version of their 1:12 Pan car kit, the new GT-300W-V4.  Improvements to the new chassis over its predecessor include a number of key changes.  The first is its new  narrower Aluminium chassis which is better in race conditions especially in tight tracks.  As well as a  different design, the chassis is now stiffer which reduces wear rate but still allows adequate flex.  An improved rigidity Battery Securing System now uses O-ring rather than battery tape to hold the battery in position.  The distances between axles have also been shortened on the V4, increasing stability in corners.  A new 1-piece Bumper Collision Plate helps to better absorb front impact.

Ronnefalk takes 2 Swedish Onroad National titles

Former 1:8 Offroad World Champion David Ronnefalk added not one but two Swedish National Onroad titles to his CV today, being crowned the Electric Touring Car and 1:8 Onroad Nitro Champion in Stockholm.  Not a complete stranger to electric touring car, Ronnefalk would win the TQ and title for Awesomatix ahead of established touring car stars Alexander Hagberg and Viktor Wilck.  A somewhat surprise announcement as an ARC team driver in 1:8 Onroad in April, the reigning 1:8 Offroad European Champion is pretty much a rookie in the sport’s longest established category.  Also starting on pole for the half hour final, he would go on to win ahead of Alexander Andersson and Niclas Nilsson for what would be his 23rd Swedish National title!  While an impressive performance, Ronnefalk will switch his attention back to Offroad as he prepares to defend his Euros title for Mayako in Redovan, Spain, in early September.

Team Associated’s Alex Bernadzik has claimed an impressive TQ double at the Australian round of the Asian Buggy Championships presented by VP Racing.  The inaugural season of the 1:8 Offroad Championship, Round 2 at Pine Hills Dirt Racing saw Bernadzik set the pace in both nitro and electric Buggy at the Brisbane track.  In Nitro Buggy, he would top three of the four qualifiers with Zac Ryan, a Top 6 finisher at Round 1 in the Philippines, his key challenger and the only other driver to top the time sheets.  In Q3, Ryan, who was responsible for the track build at PHDR, took his HB Racing to a TQ run by just 0.1 of a second from the Tekno of Caleb Noble.  Having missed seeding practice, Noble would conclude qualifying 3rd overall of the 63 entries.  In eBuggy, the biggest class with 68 entries, again Bernadzik produced three TQ performances while Noble managed the fastest time in the penultimate round.  Using the event to get in some high level race practice prior to the 1:10 Offroad World Championship later this year, Christopher Sturdy would complete the Top 3 in qualifying at the controls of his Team Associated.  Qualifying 3rd in Buggy and 2nd in eBuggy, Noble would get P1 in Truggy qualifying leading a Tekno 1-2 from Jackson Beale.  Qualifying P2 at the Philippine Masters in April, Round 2 is Beale’s home event.  New Zealand’s Logan Toia completed the Truggy Top 3.
