Hudy Buggy & Truggy setup board

Hudy Buggy & Truggy setup board

Continuing with our Slovakian theme, Hudy have released this exceptionally flat and warp-resistant set-up board for chassis set-up of 1/8th scale off-road buggies and truggies. This practical and essential board makes the work on any buggy or truggy a pleasure as it is wide enough to ensure that the setup system pieces will fit properly on the board.

The board is made from a core of specially pressed wooden material, the manufacturing of which ensures constant thickness and warp resistance. The exterior of the flat setup board is a special plastic coating that is bonded to the core by very high pressure, ensuring an extremely flat, tough, and durable exterior. Outer edges are covered with a special plastic material to prevent corner and edge damage from regular or extreme use.

GRP Conespike 1/8th Buggy Tires

GRP Conespike 1/8th Buggy Tires

In all our excitement of writing about the new GRP Conespike for 1/10th scale, we completely overlooked the fact that GRP had also produced the same tire style for 1/8th scale as well. These tires have also been made in conjunction with Mirage Racing and UK GRP racers and have been specifically developed for the grass / astro turf conditions found in the UK.

The surface of the tyre has a textured finish instead of a smooth finish as this improves traction once the spike has folded under acceleration. This made a huge difference in performance of the tyre and was another feature that we are very happy with. We also have been very busy developing a new softer insert which is now yellow in colour and improves handling on bumpy tracks as well as landing jumps.

GRP Conespike 1/10th Buggy Tires

GRP Conespike 1/10th Buggy Tires

GRP have announced their first 1/10th scale buggy tire, which have been designed in conjunction with UK distributor Mirage Racing called the Conespike. The Conespike has been designed and tested in the UK over the past few months by top GRP drivers and will be available in rears suitable for both 4wd and 2wd, 4wd fronts and 2wd fronts.

We tested various spike designs to maximise forward traction and side bite. We had some very interesting results with length of spikes and shapes of spikes and with GRP’s awesome prototype making facility we were able to quickly change and re mould the tyres to our needs. Months of prototypes and lots of laps later we had decided on the best design of spike and pattern of spikes for grass, loose dirt and Astroturf. We also tested numerous compounds and chose the C compound which has excellent forward traction and very low wear. The surface of the tyre has a textured finish instead of a smooth finish as this improves traction once the spike has folded under acceleration. This made a huge difference in performance of the tyre and was another feature that we are very happy with.

RMV Symbio Kyosho STR body

RMV Symbio Kyosho STR body

Last weekend at the NRW-Cup in Dormagen, Thorsten Wedemeyer photographed the Reckward brothers testing this new truggy body shell called the Symbio. Fitted on 2 long wheelbase Kyosho ST-R’s, but suitable for a number of different chassis’, the new body was still being tested by RMV and when completed will look slightly different to those in the pictures. The main stand out feature is the rear air scoops which channel airflow to the rear wing, presumably helping with balance while in flight.
