Alan Scoggie takes Irish 1/8th Nitro Buggy title

Alan Scoggie takes Irish 1/8th Nitro Buggy title

The last round of the Irish Nationals took place the past weekend but wet weather spoiled the fun. A number of rounds have been run in the year but Monaghan has been subject to unfortunate weather conditions consistently. The second round there was rained off mid way and unfortunately the rerun was also. Most of the guys where sad as the track team had made the place more comfortable and consistent, the track would have made for a great race final. So the championship fall back to 2/3 scoring rounds and as ever was tight at the top. Ultimately Alan Scoggie took the title of Irish national champion from Gary Baird on the second place and young Andrew McClean (all Agama/Bullitt) third. In Electric Buggy Gary Baird (Agama) took the title with Barkley (Agama) second.

BRCA 1/12 Nationals Rd1 – Report

Last weekend saw the first round of the 2016/17 BRCA 1/12th scale Nationals take place in Eastbourne, UK. The events southern location resulted in a lower turnout than is normal for these events as some drivers from the north of England chose not to make the long trip south. Despite this the event promised to be very competitive with all of the main contenders for the series in attendance. This season sees a change to the classes offered, with a single 13.5T blinky class for everyone on Saturday while on Sunday drivers have a choice of 13.5T blinky and modified, which for this season sees the introduction of a 6.5T motor limit and “blinky” speed controllers.

Lovan RC Challenge Rd1 – Report

The Lovan RC Challenge kicked off this past weekend with the opening round taking place at the new Velocitatem Arena, a permanent and pretty technical indoor track in Ingelmunster, in the western part of Belgium. The series is run in the four classes of Touring Superstock 10.5T blinky, Touring Stock 17.5T blinky, 1/12th scale 10.5T and Formula 21.5T. As for the schedule, an opening round of qualifying was held on Saturday with the remainder of the qualifiers were run on Sunday followed by triple mains for everyone. In Superstock Awesomatix’s Ollie Bultynck took a convincing pole position, one lap in front of Florian Joos (Tamiya), with the latter suffering transponder issues, and the Xray of Eric Denolf. The finals were a bit more exciting and Florian would put his Tamiya a bit closer to Ollie’s Awesomatix but ultimately Olivier would take the win from Florian while Kristof Dehert, an off-road aficionado, took his brand new WRC to a fine third place overall, all three running Volante 28 tyres.
