Mega MF21 OFR 5P buggy engine

Serpent have announced the release of their latest Mega motor, which is the first Mega buggy engine to be released that uses the Novarossi based Massimo Fantini made engine. The Mega MF21 OFR 5P 3.5cc engine is a top of the line buggy engine which as the name suggests has a 5 port liner and also features a lightened and hard coated crankshaft with a large turbo scoop. The motor itself uses a non turbo plug, has a large cooling head and the front bearing uses a rubber seal to prevent dirt getting into the motor from behind the flywheel.

Pro Line Nitro Max Challenge

Last weekend saw the Pro Line Nitro Max Challenge take place at the Dirt race park in California and was attended by all the major teams making this a very competitive event. The event attracted over 180 entrants and so it was a busy weekend of racing and after qualifying the TQ racers were Losi racer Adam Drake in 1/10th truck, HoBao racer Jeremy Kortz in truggy and Adam Drake once again in buggy.

The buggy main saw some close racing but was an unlucky event for The Drake who came home 4th, with Team Associated driver Ryan Cavalieri taking a big win for the new RC8 ahead of Kyosho racer Cody King in 2nd with Jammin racer Chad Bradley in 3rd, the top 3 drivers all on the same lap. The truggy main saw a closer battle up front, but once again the pole sitter didn’t fair well, finishing down in 12th, while Billy Fischer took the win ahead of Philip Atondo in a close 2nd with another 3rd position for Chad Bradley. The 1/10th Truck saw a win for pole man Adam Drake who kept it together to take the win for Losi ahead of the Associated pairing of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield who finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Linus Thern wins Rd1 Swedish Cup

Last weekend saw the first round of the Swedish cup run in Eskilstuna, Sweden. It was Xray driver, and Nordic Xray Challenge winner, Robert Gustafsson that lined up on the top spot for the final and it was Gustafsson that could pull out an early lead but Pro Line Challenge winner Linus Thern driving for Kyosho was able to pull back the defecit to take the lead and with it the win. Gustaffson came home in second while Mugen racer Mikael PÃ¥lsson came home in 3rd.

Chen Wuzhong wins Guangzhou National

Chinese National race

This weekend saw the latest Chinese National race run at the new off road track, FT Racing Track in Guangzhou, which attracted over a 100 racers from all over China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and further afield with drivers coming from Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The big teams were also present at this event with top drivers present from Team Nanda, Team HongNor, Team OCM and Team Hobao, so the competition was very strong for this race. In qualifying it was Team HongNor driver Ye Xiaqing that took the TQ spot for todays final which saw 13 drivers battle it out for the top spots and were broken down into 5 Nanda NRB3, 5 HongNor X1CR, 2 OCM DT-19 and 1 Kyosho MP777 in A Final. After the 1 hour race the winner was Chen Wuzhong driving for Nanda finishing ahead of his team mate Zhu Minghui, who came home in 2nd while 3rd place went to Wang Wenpei driving a HongNor X1CR-FT.

STS D21T MK II buggy motor

STS, the Taiwanese RC manufacturer, has released this new team version of their 3.5cc buggy motor. Called the D21T MKII, T standing for team, this new engine features a 14mm crankshaft, a 5 port liner, comes with 2 combustion chambers for using both the turbo or standard type glow plug and the motor itself has been custom made, which suggests some extra hand work done, but we dont know what exactly has been done.

Xenon Racing, who we mentioned yesterday when they showed their latest camber gauge, have also announced their new Tamiya DF-03 carbon double deck conversion. The main chassis has been made from 3mm carbon fibre while the upper deck is made from 2.4mm carbon fibre, which is connected to the front of the gearbox with a tough aluminum block substantial improving the chassis rigidity.

Hobbico have just introduced their new ultra high torque servo, the CS-170, which has been custom designed to withstand the extreme punishment that today’s 1/8 buggies, truggies and other cars produce.

This beast has it all including an incredible 333 oz./in. of torque at 6.0 volts, digital precision, enormous holding power and the strongest Titanium gears available. The features don’t end there with strong hardened steel gear pins and dual ball bearings for superior strength and wear resistance and are all encased in an extruded aluminum servo case. To finish the package off, it includes beefed up control arms.
