European ‘B’ Championship, Slovenia – Facts & Figures

European 'B' Championship, Slovenia

The 2007 EFRA European ‘B’ Championship for 1:8 IC Track has successfully come & gone and the host nations Slovenia are the very proud champions following Jernej Vuga’s superb performance at his home track of Tolmin. In total 97 drivers travelled to this beautiful country with neighbours Italy fielding the largest team with 26 racers. Germany was the next largest representation with 20 while the smallest team was that of Sweden which was represented by just one driver – Mattias Ericsson. In terms of equipment used it was Dutch company Serpent that proved the most popular choice of car with Novarossi the No. 1 choice of engine. On the tyre front, when it was dry at least, Enneti could be found on more than 1 in 4 of competing cars. It was a similar case in the fuel rankings with Tornado the top brand. Controlling each drivers choice of equipment it was Sanwa that led the way.

Pietsch maintains perfect score in South Germany

Pietsch maintains perfect score in South Germany

Last week we reported on the 1/10th scale results from the 3rd round of the South Germany regionals in Rosenheim, which saw Robert Pietsch take the win for Xray. Robert was also in action in the 1/8th scale class at the same event, and the Novarossi team driver, who has won the first 2 rounds, showed once again that he is in top form. After 4 rounds of qualification he placed his Shepherd Velox on pole position, 7 seconds faster than Mugen driver Armin Baier in 2nd with Kyosho team driver Andreas Hammerl in 3rd. The final took place under perfect weather conditions with Robert making the most of the clear track in front of him at the start and could pull out an advantage maintaining his position to the end, winning by 2 laps in front of his uncle Christoph Pietsch while 3rd place went to Andreas Hammerl, 2 laps further back.

Guya modular Circuit chassis

Guya Modular chassis

We were sent a link about this car today and while i dont think it can be considered a competition car, it is so bizarre it deserves a mention. The concept of the Italian made Guya, is that those among us who cant decide between a 1/8th or 1/10th scale circuit car can purchase the Guya which will serve all your needs. Tired of racing 1/8th scale, loosen a few nuts, slide the chassis closed, screw in the wishbones, instant 200mm, prefer to race a 2wd or even an electric powered car, again no problem this car has it all. While the car features inboard suspension and a lay down engine, it is more of an engineering excercise than a viable product, and so we will give the maker credit for some new thinking, even if it is to find a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist.
