VBC Lightning12M alloy chassis & on-road car stand

VBC Lightning12M alloy chassis & on-road car stand

VBC Racing have introduced an aluminium main chassis and lower pod plate for the Lightning12M as well as an aluminium on-road car stand. Starting with the option parts, the chassis and lower pod plate are both cut from 2.5mm aluminium and they come black anodised and with silver chamfered edges for improved looks. With a higher rigidity than the standard carbon parts the alloy pieces will increase the overall stiffness of the car which leads to an improved handling especially on high-bite surfaces while the added weight will lower the centre of gravity which further helps in grippy conditions. Both the chassis and the pod plate are available separately.

PSM RC8B3 carbon fibre downforce flaps

PSM RC8B3 carbon fibre downforce flaps

PSM from Germany have introduced their new carbon fibre downforce flaps for the Team Associated RC8B3 buggy. Cut from lightweight yet durable 0.5mm carbon fibre sheet the flaps attach to the rear end of the RC8B3 kit body and help to generate extra rear downforce for improved rear end stability and easier jump control. The highly impact resistant parts are cut from semi-gloss carbon material, they weigh in at only 2g per piece and thus have virtually no impct on the centre of gravity or overall weight distribution. The set includes two plain flaps without stickers.

Daniel Kobbevik joins Serpent 1/8th off-road team

Serpent have announced the addition of Norway’s Daniel Kobbevik to their 1/8th off-road team. An EOS A-main finisher and national frontrunner, Daniel is a 1/10th scale specialist but he will now further up his game in the challenging 1/8th buggy class. He will be working closely with his fellow Serpent drivers Shin Adachi, Billy Easton, Jörn Neumann as well as Gerd Strenge with his first outing for his new chassis sponsors being this week’s IFMAR 1/8th Gas Buggy World Championships in Las Vegas. Due to a very late decision to attend, Daniel had to go through the much discussed qualifying race in which he was able to earn a ticket for the actual Worlds.

The Worlds according to Ruona – Testing, practice or training?

The Worlds according to Ruona – Testing, practice or training?

We made it through a great practice day today at the worlds and so far things are looking pretty normal. The track is developing character with some bumpy places here and there and most certainly will continue. I see some drivers having trouble finding their marks out there so it’s obviously more difficult than it looks. After the 180 down the straight there is a nice hole forming and on the face of the following roller / jump. Things will only get more interesting from here.
